Emerson Etem = Nick Jensen and that's all I would be willing to give up for him.

Jensen 29th O/A 2011

Etem 29th  O/A 2010

Two first round picks that have not worked out and in EE instance he's already played for 2 NHL teams and failed to impress

Great start to the thread guys.

Was just about to say haha. I don't think the kid will amount to much, but we only gave up Jensen and a 7th so it's all good. If he finds a way to make any sort of positivd impact as an NHL'r for this team I'd chalk it up as a win.

I'm thrilled about the trade personally. Etem's got a high ceiling even if he's a long shot to reach it and we got him for an asset we were likely losing next fall anyway. WINNING.

Add the proven chemistry he has with Shink and that he also should apply some upward/internal pressure to Virtanen if our coaches can turn his game around... I like!

Worst case, he's a useful bottom 6 depth guy moving forward.

Nice move by JB.    Very promising player that should fit nicely here.

Douche move by TOML.   Etem's only played half seasons at the NHL level and is still 23 years old.  Complaining about nothing.

Prospects rules are clear and it's games played OR years.

Reason being that 154 NHL games played is nothing to make irrelevant.

But who cares, right?  Guy half to make thread.

Horvat is still in the prospects section....does it really matter?

idont think so but after this year i would say it isnt needed. He is an nhl player now sophmore year. But I guess entry level deals are 2 way so maybe until the end of his entry level deal he is considered a prospect? tomato tomatoe

So to summarize.

We currently have the entire top line of one of the deadliest lines in the WHL over the last 6 years in Curtis Valk, Emerson Etem and Hunter Shinkaruk in our organization.

A line with chemistry that predates the NHL.

We have the coach that managed to help them become that great line.

Can we please find a way to get Etem in to the AHL with Hunter and hope Valk comes back healthy (if indeed he is still injured) and while we're at it find a way to get Domi out of Arizona for Horvat too.

I am genuinely stoked about this trade.

Edit** I completely forgot Vey played with this kid and that vey net something like 100 points in a season doing it.  Maybe we have something here.  Options with Vey/Valk.  Exciting

I just don't see why it matters let alone why it needs to be a source of contention.  We should be happy, we picked up a decent sized kid with some modicum of skill for a guy who was...not
