No suspension

Maybe Daniel should boycott the all-star game over this and let the league suspend him a game.  At least it would draw attention to the BS bias the Sedins have faced throughout their careers.

If that were Crosby or McDavid, there would have been a suspension without doubt.  Deliberate hit from behind with time to back off and directly into the boards., It's only luck that prevented Hank from breaking his neck.

Bush league.  This is why this league will never be like the NFL.

In the NHL a penalty depends on - what period it is, who had the last few penalties, who is involved in the infraction, is it playoffs or not..etc...and their suspensions are sometimes based on the outcome, sometimes on the intent, sometimes on who is involved.

Its like a bloody Ouija board.

No league should ever aspire to have officiating like the NFL! That is probably the first time I've ever heard anyone think NFL officiating was something to copy.

I think it's fair to say the League as a whole has taken the twins for granted over much of their careers, but this mindset is changing throughout the League, not bias simply a lack of respect for the two players and what they bring to the game consistently.

It doesn't matter if it's Crosby or Ekblad and so on, throughout the League there is very little discipline for actions that injure players let alone the star players.

One may feel it is insane that the star players as witnessed last night are not as protected and punishment for injuring them is minimal. Remember the star players, or any player for that matter is part of a union that wouldn't stand for their members being suspended and going without pay for substantial periods of time. It's not simply the League being lenient.

The League also decided years ago to breakdown and eliminate the system in place in which players on the ice could deter and punish those who took liberties with the star players or teammates in general. Now players are punished for attempting to right a wrong.

This is not a Sedin's thing.

I really don't think intent should be taken into consideration.  The results are the results.  A lot of guys don't intend to high stick guys and cut their faces open but when they do they have to pay the consequences.  Again, the league is so inconsistent with their handling of these types of hits.  And, again the Sedins are on the receiving end.  Maybe we should trade for John Scott and put him in the line up the next time we play the Islanders?  Just kidding, but the Canucks really don't have anyone that other teams really fear.

If it wasn't at the bench he would have smashed his face and it would have looked even worse.  It should have been a suspension in my opinion, but it should have been one for Dubinsky when he broke his stick on Crosby couple months ago.  It's not just a Sedin disrespect issue, it's a useless DOPS issue.

Well, I don't think the hit deserves a suspension. The trouble is, as Canuck fans, we've seen our players get suspended for borderline hits simply because they caused an injury or were deemed reckless. That same standard is not applied in cases like these. The Canucks players have set a lot of precedents that seem to get overturned by better 'lawyers' later.

Same play to Ekblad gets three games for Hendricks.

So by this logic Grabovski should be getting a two game suspension after a one game misconduct.

DoPS = Department of Perpetual Stupidity

Hendricks left his feet to drill Ekblad's head against the glass. Don't try and make them sound the same.
