Is Milan Lucic Out of Control?

Recommended Posts

So this happened last night.

He just returned from being suspended for this.

Last 3 games:

0pts -5 14mins in pims (should have been more), a 1-game suspension (should be more) and 6 shots on net while the belligerent LA Kings continue to put the maniac on their top line.

Question 1:  As the title asks, is Lucic out of control?

Question 2:  The NHL has a soft spot for Milan, but not for the Canucks.  How long would it take Lucic, if he was wearing a Canucks jersey, to be suspended for life?

Question 3:  Do we want this element on our team?  And at what rate?  He's currently earning $6.5mil, which is $.5mil less than either Sedin, and he'll demand a raise.

Yes. He seems to have very little impulse control and problems controlling his anger issues.

No. The risk factor far outweighs any miniscule benefit he might bring.

Nope he is not out of control.

All of those things that he did, sucker punching a player, swinging at another player and then missing, only to hit a ref, is all allowed in the NHL playoffs.

That's why LA Cheapshots got Lucic in the first place because they know that in the playoffs, none of those are going to get called and it is a very effective way to cause tear and damage on the opponents's skilled players over the course of a playoff series.

I'm wondering if this will translate, if he signs here, to the Canucks being allowed to doing things like this in the playoffs.  Because ever since Rome-Horton, the Canucks haven't been able to get away with diddly-squat.  This might be part of the reason why I think Lucic to Vancouver will fail.  But if alluvasudden the Vancouver Canucks do get away with murder, then it could be a success.  God, I wish the NHL was remotely consistent.
