Pass! If we were looking to a deep playoff run and not needing room for the youngins I would be all over that though.

One of the 'darling' playoff teams should claim him (or trade for him after he passes). He could go out there, decapitate someone key on the opposing team and probably get a fine/short suspension :rolleyes:

Torres is a proven playoff performer, yah there are risks with his undisciplined game but he is exactly the kind of bulldozer you'd want in your line up going against a team like LA. Maybe that's not the case anymore, maybe he's lost a step, but I am sure it could make sense for some team to put in a claim as his contract expires at the end of the season. Especially a team looking to add grit without giving up assets.

That being said he will likely clear waivers.

You would think a team like the Sharks would want to keep him. The path through the playoffs goes through LA for them, and Torres could be of use in that series.

He could take out Doughty, the same way Stoll took out Vlasic, and look how much of a difference that made the last time they met. Not condoning that at all, but the league certainly doesn't take any steps from preventing something like that from happening.

He won't ever get a short suspension again. The league threw the book at him for his last hit. 42 games for something Dustin Brown has never been suspended for and has done his whole career. Watch DB's new head butt move he has been using this year.

Wouldnt be surprised to see a contender with injuries pick him up for the end of the season, just to see if he has anything left, the guy was a pretty good playoff performer not all that long ago.

If not it might be the end of the line for Torres.

Wouldn't be interested if I were JB, but there are likely several teams interested.  Dal/Chi/NYR/TB.....I could see a potential fit to some degree with all of these teams.

He'll literally make defencemen take a second look out there and occasionally cough up the puck just through sheer panic sometimes.  That's worth something to the right team heading into the playoffs imo.

Problem is that he's one questionable hit away from being suspended for the rest of his career potentially and what GM wants to deal with that distraction?

he probably clears and maybe gets moved in a contract swap. He plays on the edge and usually going over the edge. Would rather have him than Prust, but we need to move out players not claim any as once hammer and hank come back after all star break we are going to have to waive or trade 1 or 2 players no?

How about a follow nal stand a la Wideman? An F.U. At the league for being the league.

I would be surprised if any team picked him up as they would have to keep him on their roster. He hasn't played in a long time and is probably a ways from game shape. He might have to play his way from the AHL back to the NHL to prove he can play with self-control.
