[2016 NHL Entry Draft] - Eetu Tuulola

Recommended Posts

Eetu Tuulola
RW - RHS - 6'3 - 225lbs

  • Very big power winger who needs to cut down some weight and play a quicker game before he comes to play in North America
  • Potential: *bottom six scorer or top six support that matches up to shut down the opposition
  • Compliments quicker linemates who have an eye for playmaking
  • *Pressure situations aren't his strong suit
  • Needs to get better positionally in his own end and be more engaged consistently; is responsible defensively
  • Works very hard to maintain puck possession and has a quick release on his shot (Shoot-first mentality)
  • Doesn't play the prototypical North American power forward game, and takes time and space for granted sometimes; playing on a smaller rink would benefit his game as soon as possible
  • Nose for the net and an imposing presence on the forecheck; consistent physicality is starting to come along as of recent
  • Strong skater, needs to cut down some weight to get faster; has natural skating talent, but his size is holding him back from reaching anything near an elite top speed
  • Strong puck skills, everything you want from a natural offensive forward. Puck control, shot, hands - he's been scoring for a long time and has refined certain skills that define the way he plays.
  • Good bloodlines and grew up around hockey; brother was drafted to the Hawks in 2015

Not the complete package, but he's got time to transform his game. The draft is a place for teams to take a chance on a kid if they like him, to give them a chance to mould him into the type of player they want.

* = this could change drastically depending on his development path
