Ryan McDonagh's concussion could reportedly prevent the New York Rangers from trading his teammate.

"As long as Ryan McDonagh is out, Keith Yandle is not going to be on the market," TSN's Darren Dreger reported during his NBCSN first intermission segment Wednesday. "There's no way the Rangers can move a piece like that (with McDonagh out)."

Yandle is a pending unrestricted free agent with a cap hit of $2,625,000. The 29-year-old is having another productive season, entering Wednesday's game with 28 points in 53 contests.

McDonagh is out indefinitely with a concussion suffered after being punched by Philadelphia Flyers forward Wayne Simmonds on Saturday.

Looks like Hamhuis is the clear cut #1 available dman to any team looking to bulk up for a playoff run.

Even if Yandle were made available, Rangers would want pieces that would help them win now, as opposed to futures which the Canucks will demand making Hamhuis contending teams #1 target.

...NYR have a history of shipping away players who have not signed an extension on the last year of their deal which is why some speculated Yandle could possibly made available.

Hammer would waive. He has been traded at the deadline before becoming ufa in the past and ended up signing where he wanted to be in vancouver.

Same routine. Cup run with a good team. Sign back in van on july 1.

If he wants to be here longterm he would probably be all for a shot at the cup. With the way the league is now he might only have 5 more years left in the bigs. Probably would take any chance he gets at this point to get a cup after being close. Especially because we will probably be a few years away from contending here.

Hamhuis was never traded at the deadline. His UFA negotiating rights were traded to Philadelphia prior to free agency who then flipped his rights to Pit when they couldn't sign him.

What an awesome trade by Don Maloney.

Anthony Duclair, 1st and 2nd for Yandle and 4th

Rangers got Yandle for 1.5 years, I bet Yandle goes back and resigns in PHX just like Vermette and Michalek did. And to top it off in the summer PHX re signed both those players on cheap UFA deals as opposed to if they never traded them away, same will happen with Yandle.

Both Vermette and Yandle were much more hyped than they turned out to be after being traded to contending teams.

Except Yandle has still been getting on the scoresheet like he always has. Vermette though didn't do a whole lot for Chicago but they did win the Cup so there's that.

I refuse to believe this until a credible source reports it.

Well if JB can't trade Hamhuis, it's because he wouldn't waive.

Hopefully, management can convince Hamhuis to waive and be guaranteed a contract back in VAN this summer.

Not really, Yandle gets exposed in NYR on the D. He's got 28 Points as opposed to the 41 he had when he got traded to the Rags last year at this time.

In PHX he had a lot higher rep around the league.

The day Sather traded for Yandle he said "I've been watching Yandle for years, I always wanted him, not easy to get player like this, he's like a Rick Nash and these guys don't get put on market etc. etc etc."

No way Yandle will cash out like he would have if he never got traded

Vermette was known for being an awesome 2way C. CHG traded for him because of Kane's injury. Vermette was going to be their 2C for the playoff run. They paid a huge price with a 1st and Dahlbeck.

It never did go well in Chicago, came back and signed a 2 year 3.7 mill per year deal in PHX.

If he didn't go to Chicago Vermette would have easily gotten 5 mill on 4 or 5 year deal.

But yeah, still better than the Vermette did. He really sucked in Chicago. I thin he was being benched in the playoffs if I recall correctly.

we keep winning benning will hold on to all his assets like he did last year. NYR shouldnt be trading yandle period to me he is key for them going into the playoffs, pure offensive D great on the pp. They must not feel like they can resign him or he wants too much $ in their eyes

Except Edler is out with a broken leg and ownership wants a playoff push.

Hope the injuries to Edler and Sutter are enough for management to show ownership the playoffs are out of the picture for this year.

...ownership is really the ones keeping us back from moving onto the next wave of Canucks. They'd rather make profit from 2-3 home playoff games as a sorry as$ team instead of stripping away dead weight, developing the youth, and have a team in 2-3 years time that will be a playoff threat for the next little while and compete as contenders / not pretenders.

He's going back to PHX and they know it. That's the only reason NYR would put him on the market. They paid a massive price for him. If they could they'd resign him.

These last 2 wins hurt this team a lot more than people recognise. At this point the more losses the better.
