Didn't realise Vilardi was so young, about 1.5 PPG in the OHL for an underager at 17 who is only going to get bigger is pretty damn good. He's my pick if we miss on Patrick/Hirschier/Liljegren

A lot of scouts have Liljegren dropping down a bit because his season has been shaky. I think Cale Makar is the top D man now.

I've been watching Ludvig Hoff's progression for the last year. He's a player I would definitely use a late round pick on. Strictly statistical, his numbers don't pop out whatsoever. But he's a good playmaker that has shown a good developmental curve so far.

Came to North America as a 17 year old and played for the Lincoln Stars of the USHL. A steady point increase before getting 57 points in 56 games in his final year.

The freshman at UND was 2nd in F/O percentage on his team and picked up 14 pts (3G,11A) in 35 games. He can play the wing if needed, so he's flexible. He plays hard game in and game out, and shows up when the chips are down. A little undersized at 5'10, but it hasn't held him back in his first year against college players. I'm confident he'll have NHL interest come his junior year, so get his rights now.

Don't see Vilardi droping out of the top-10, the kid's putting up big numbers as a 17 year old. I think of the bunch he's the most likely in the recent years to replicate a Getzlaf/Kopitar-type player. Lots of kids have the potential, but this guy's big, has soft hands and still has a year of developing in his belt on everyone else.

Hope JB doesn't get too carried away with the NCAA because it's a risky route, hope he's treating everyone evenly this draft. If we don't move in draft position it's a toss up between Mittelstadt and Vilardi. Hopefully this is our priority list:

1) Hirschier

2) Patrick

3) Vilardi or Mittelstadt

4) Liljegren or Makar

5) Rasmussen/Pettersson/Glass

Tank in 2018 for:

3. Rasmus Dahlin (Sweden)

The 16-year-old Swedish defenceman already has scouts drooling for the 2018 draft. Despite playing just under 11 minutes per game, Dahlin has impressed with his size and poise. Some are already projecting him to be then next Nicklas Lidstrom, which would stand to reason that he is now being projected as the first overall pick a year from June.

http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/juniors/ranking-interesting-performances-wjc-preliminary-round/

we won't have to "try" to tank.  we got a 10% chance more or less this year and next for the top pick.  And probably the year after that and the next year too, unless we win the lottery at least once.  If we do win it once I'd like it to be next year for Rasmus.

It works like this:

1. You get all the pieces

2. The pieces learn how to win

3. They win

We haven't even gotten all the pieces.  Rasum Dahlin would definitely be sweet.  especially if we can get lucky and get a 1C this year.   IF this year and next we can get a 1C and a true 1D in the draft, then at the end of 2018 we will have all the "pieces".  Then it will take a few years to learn how to win - 2019 spring is a learning season, in playoffs in 2020,  IF.  it's not small.

More realistically, and considering the Canucks curse, we won't win either lottery, and not get a 1C nor a 1D in the draft.  we don't really ever get the pieces, but the ones we do learn how to win.  we start making the playoffs in 2022 but never go anywhere.  we troll the trades board to hope that trader jim can work magic...  ugh.

This next few years is CRITICAL - we need a few real game breakers.  Imagine the Oilers without McDavid...

To me Nick Suzuki is horribly underrated based on his numbers. Can anyone give me any insight as to why he is rated so low?

Just size. He could very well be the best player in the draft haha

I guess but the league is getting quicker and more skilled anyway. He's 5'11" which isn't that small and most of his scouting report says that he battles and plays in the hard areas.

His primary points per game is tops for his draft class in the OHL. And he is one of the youngest projected first round players in the draft.

Ya he has climbed the ranks quickly in these last few months. He is strong on the puck and solid for his size. If we are drafting 5-10 I wouldn't mind gambling on him if Vilardi, middelstadt, Patrick, and Hischier are gone.
