The original, of course.... And Willie Nelson convinces me that not all covers are bad ones.... EDIT: Reading more about this song, now I'm not sure who actually covered whom! Brenda Lee took it to #3 on the Adult Contemporary Chart, #41 on Billboard's Hot 100 and #50 on the Country Chart in1969 - it also reached #11 on the Canadian Adult Contemporary Chart and #38 on the Canadian Pop Chart that same year. HOWEVER ..........Willie had it at #36 on the Country Chart in 1968.. So I guess Brenda Lee is actually the one who 'covered' it! Here endeth the trivia fact of the day......
