snizzle_
Traded From Calgary to Vancouver for a 2nd round pick in 2015. Calgary given up on a once promising offensive prospect. Edited March 2, 2015 by junglesniper
Popular Post snizzle_
So much for not trading draft picks, but I guess again, Benning is fast forwarding these picks into more ready players. He seems to be trending in the wrong direction though.
baumerman77
Amazing hands and a fast skater. Here's to hoping he's big enough to make it in the NHL.
thejazz97
Benning's got something up his sleeve. Either that or he's really high on our third Swiss.

Popular Post Odd.
2015 2nd maybe Benning is planning on recovering that pick later I mean we can easily acquire one at the draft... Higgins Richardson Hansen Matthias Vey All worth second round picks. Not saying I'd trade them all though. Just an example of our depth..

He seems to be trending in the wrong direction though. JB has said he'll trade for more further developed prospects. A 2nd may not even step foot in the NHL. We got a 1st line potential player for a toss in. Risk is we have to then him around. VAN wins.
JamesB
Amazing hands and a fast skater. Here's to hoping he's big enough to make it in the NHL. Another small high energy forward (like Conacher), because the Canucks do not have enough of those. But decent value for a 2nd round pick. Popular Post Oregon.Duck
He has a ton of skill and I think we'll be pleasantly surprised as to what he can bring to the group. Next year will be interesting with Shinkaruk, Virtanen, Gaunce, Jensen, and Baertschi all legitimately vying for time with the big club. Not only that, Shink, Virtanen, Jensen, and Baertschi can all become legitimate top 6 forwards if we look at potential. Gaunce is an outlier there. Many 2nd rounders are hit or miss, but here we get a legitimately skilled player with a great resume who will make the competition tougher, at the very least, for our other prospects. Awesome job GMJB!

Canadian franchise disease - always playing the short game No, playing the short game would be trading that 2nd round pick for someone like Cole; an aging vet with maybe a season or two left in him. Trading a 2nd round pick for a 22 year old, former 1st round pick who has the potential to have a breakout season in the next couple of years doesn't seem short sighted to me.
Phil_314
Liking the deal! He's like Linden Vey, glad to see Trader Jim moving for ready-made youth like him. Totally forgot about him myself but he could be a solid part of the team's future. Baertschi, Shinkaruk, Virtanen - Horvat, McCann - Kassian, Jensen, Vey

You'll forgive my lack of faith. I'm not crapping on the trade, I just don't have tons of faith in our scouting dept. Edler's Mind Tricks
I really like this. He played for Green in junior and attributed a lot of his success there to the confidence and support that he got from his coaches there. I think he will fit in with Green and WD both. Ton of upside, 2011 11th overall pick. Much better chance of success than ~50th overall pick.
Salmonberries
Now if we can just move our first we'll be set for another draft to remember like 2010!
