Bridgeport scores first to make it 1-0. McEneny and Subban both wind up out of position and the Comets forwards look on as Rowe jams the puck in uncontested in front of the net.

Did you notice Subban just let some guy push him from in front of his own net, after the whistle?  He's got to be a lot tougher, and not let guys push him off his ice without a fight back.  Bad guys just scored again:(

2-0 Sound Tigers after one, shots are 12-9 although they held a 7-0 advantage to start the period. Not a good period for the Comets at all - they were able to overcome a couple of defensive breakdowns yesterday but they can't expect to do that consistently and have Demko bail them out every time. Subban in particular had a rough period after having a good weekend a week ago. He had a bright spot where he won a board battle in his own zone to disrupt a Bridgeport pressure shift but then promptly turned the puck over as soon as the Comets tried to move up ice. The Kunyk-Valk-Virtanen has been the best line for Utica offensively, although they were on the ice for both goals against - Virtanen nearly scored off a play where he had a clear path to the net and fired it past McAdam but caught the post instead. Valk has been his usual crafty self and is going to the tough areas around the net to try to generate something.

This Utica team has a lot of fight in them so hopefully they can rebound in the next 40 minutes with a better effort.

Fixed that for you. :)

Whoops, good catch. They're lucky its only after one.

Side note, St. John's has beaten Rochester... all the more reason for the Comets to come back in this one. Its like no matter how many they've won lately, St. John's has been matching them win for win. Albany and Syracuse are still scoreless in the second period.

Pretty busy so won't be able to catch this one today folks. Enjoy the game and hope the fellas come back! Go Comets!

Hope you can catch tomorrow's game!

Absolutely fantastic job by Utica's penalty killers on Pedan's five minute major. Bridgeport really didn't come close at all during the five minute span and were mainly kept to the outside. Archibald in particular has become a very efficient guy on the PK.

Ben Holmstrom and Pedan drop the gloves after Holmstrom hits Rendulic, and Pedan hit Pulock earlier. Pedan can really throw some scary looking punches, and definitely got the better of that one with some heavy swings although he missed on a lot of them. Holmstrom gets cut and goes to the locker room bleeding... 11 minutes to go in the second.

They're definitely off their game today.  Slow to react, weak on the puck and little urgency........not the intensity they usually play with.  I wonder if they'll send Gaunce and Goldobin down as soon as they are healthy?  That would be a huge boost for the Comets.

Still 2-0 Bridgeport at the end of two, shots are 21-16 for the Sound Tigers. The Comets mustered only seven shots on goal as they were shorthanded for 7:00 of that period, but even at even strength they didn't threaten very much. Their two best chances of the period didn't result in shots on goal; Virtanen and Valk had a 2-on-1 where Virtanen's pass across was blocked, and Hamilton missed the net high with a late chance. The PK has been a bright spot for the Comets again but you can't generate offense when you're shorthanded that often. Pedan's penalty didn't end up costing them on the scoreboard but it really took a chunk of time out of a period in which Utica should've been pushing back.

Also, completely irrelevant, but this Bridgeport announcer sounds like a complete airhead. At various points he's called Grenier Rendulic, Archibald Billins, and Sautner Shields. He also mentioned how Valk is in the top 10 in rookie scoring, then adds "I should mention that's defenseman scoring" even though Valk had just taken a faceoff right in front of his eyes. AHL homers are something else... -_-

The Hamilton miss hurt.
