canuckledraggin
With less than 2 seconds left in the 1st overtime period Oliver Bjorkstrand scored his 6th game winning goal of the playoffs to give the Monsters the 1-0 victory in the deciding game. In a hard fought game in front of an AHL record crowd of 19,500+ the Monsters broke a 52 year drought in Cleveland and skated away with the Calder Cup victory. Lake Erie the affiliate for the Columbus Bluejackets, swept the final round 4-0 against the Hershey Bears, the affiliate for the Washington Capitals. They went 15-2 during the playoffs, with their only 2 defeats coming in the 2nd round to the Grand Rapids Griffins. http://theahl.com/stats/bracket.php?view=brief&season_id=
Bruce Boudreau
Wow. Bright future for CBJ Torts must be excited to get his hands on some young guys who have some stiffness.
stonecoldstevebernier
That game was incredible to watch, Forsberg only made a little over 20 saves but it felt like 40 with all the chances going both ways. Peters at the other end was just as good if not better, shame he couldn't grab that last one but it was a storybook ending for Lake Erie with that buzzer beater... Bjorkstrand is going to be a really solid player at the NHL level. Also, I just loved seeing the atmosphere in that building tonight, made me think of how special it would be for Utica to experience the same feeling. Too bad we don't currently have the young talent on the farm to make a comparable run, barring any vets that get signed in free agency.

Torts loves guys who are willing to go to the dirty areas while handling heavy loads all the while taking shots to the face.
Glory_Days
Columbus is looking poised to be a powerhouse in the East in a few years. Jones, Murray, Werenski, Savard as their top 4 D. Got a lot of everything with that group. Wennberg, Dubinsky, Milano, Karlsson down the middle with Saad, Jenner, Bjorkstrand, Foligno, Rychel, Bittner and whomever they grab at this draft, likely Puljujärvi. Got Dansk, Forsberg, Korpisalo for young goalies, have to imagine one of them will turn out to be a solid NHL goaltender, if not they can easily trade for one with all the assets they have. Don't have a ton of top end talent up front, but they got crazy good depth potentially, in the mold of STL almost.
GB5
Looks like former Canuck Steve McCarthy is on the winning team, good for him I guess.

Ghostsof1915
I'm just glad the Hershey Bears, one of the oldest remaining AHL clubs made it to the finals.
