EXTENSION: The Edmonton Oilers have re-signed forward Matt Moulson to a two year deal.

edm.png Matt Moulson: 2 years, $ 6.0 million dollar contract ( $ 3,000,000.00 per season ).

Awesome, thanks Mike!

Cleared some cap space & grabbed some futures in deals at the draft.  Matt is a solid veteran who can help keep us as competitive as possible. And we think Buffalo will elevate to a play off team sooner than later.

Welcome back Matt!

We're up to 12 NHL forwards, 7 D and our starting goalie.  With $13.5 in cap to push further forward. We should be able to pace with last year. Even take a small step forward?

Then as our youth starts to arrive next year?  Look out!

Here at the New York Rangers offices in Madison Square Garden, (the World's Most Famous Rink!) We are happy with our 2017 Draft and promise our Fans first and foremost that this year will be the last year we draft a small prospect pool. Logan Stanley is our lone unsigned prospect from 2016 Draft, and joining him now are three good men from the 2017 draft....and from here on out we will be drafting  a minimum of 4 players a year every year. A strategic shift in our team values over previous years makes this policy a good fit. Without further ado, here is our 2017 draft prospects and where they went in the NHL entry draft:

Casey Mittelstadt we picked at 7th, he went at 8th to Buffalo.

at 66th we picked Nick Henry and he went at 94th to Colorado

Adam Ruszicka picky by us at 97th went at 109th overall to Calgary.

We believe we will see all three in the NHL, led by Mittelstadt who has a high reward upside, "electric offensive presence on the ice, Casey Mittelstadt brings the complete package of speed, skill, and hockey sense." Of the players who went in the NHL in the top ten was 4th on our selection list, very happy to have him. Nick Henry is a 17 year old draftee that we think fell a lot in the draft. We had him as a mid 2nd to early 3rd round player in the NHL draft, however he has attributes we believe will shoot him to a much higher role in the future than his draft position would hint at. Surprised he fell to 94th, frankly after we snagged him at 66th. His first year in the Dub he put up 81 points in 72 games (with 12 points in 22 playoff games) AND has a good defensive conscience. Two Way middle sixer with upside, great to have him on board. Finally there is Adam Ruszicka. His first year in North America playing with the Sarnia Sting he tallied 46 points in 61 games and 2 points in 4 playoff tilts. He has been great internationally and we are certain we got a steal in this player who was projected to go anywhere from the early 2nd to late 3rd round. With another year or two of N.A. hockey, his stock will certainly rise. 6'4" tall also helps. That concludes the last of our "lean" draft years as we enter the 17-18 season with 5 picks and a mandate to add to that as the year goes by. Good luck to all in the future, and happy viewing as we Rise Up. New York Rangers #WERISE

Blues CDCGML 2017 Draft Class

#9 Elias Petterson (5th Canucks) +4

#72 Jarret Tyszka (149th Canadiens) -77

#115th Chaz Reddekopp (2015 187th Kings)

Very pleased with Elias picked at the 5th. So a little win for the Blues

after we dropped to the 9th Spot in the Draft Lottery.

Tyszka a little bit Disapointing picked at 149th  but we hope that we

selected  a solid Player for the Future.

Chaz was kinda a emergency Choice because all other Defenders we were looking for

was picked before our last Pick. Chaz finished his Junior Career this Season with Solid Numbers

and will become a  Pro next Season. Maybe he will be allready a good Depth addition next Season.

COL is pretty happy to see Necas go pretty close to where we got him (11th). He went 12th OA to the Canes.

We think we got a major steal late in the 3rd (93OA) with Morgan Frost who went 27th OA IRL to the Flyers.

And comically, we took Mikey Anderson at 103 and he went to LAK at ... 103

Very pleased to have Nolan Patrick go second overall to the Flyers, just where we took him at, and we already knew where Michael Spacek (WPG) and Bokondji Imama (LAK) were as over-agers.

We were disappointed to see that Artyom Minulin went undrafted today, but aren't too worried. The last time we took a Russian skater who Corey Pronman rated highly one year and was passed over, he was drafted the following year and is now in the NHL (Anton Slepyshev).
