I just want to say that it was not easy to move any of these fine young men out of our camp. We saw an opportunity however to get better on Defense, and we already have made some big time signings in Free Agency that improved us in net and on D. Strengthening our depth was priority number one this offseason, getting the most out of our netminding and capitalizing on the blue line without giving up too much of the offensive side of our game. Colin Wilson is a fine fellow to bring into the top nine forward group and to get harder to play against on the blueline AND a 2nd round pick while still adding depth with Lukas Sedlak was an opportunity that will go under the radar league wide, but we feel really shored up our Depth Depth Depth mantra this year. I also learned too late at the draft that an extra 2nd round pick is really important in any draft year, depth at drafting is good too. ; ) Thanks to Otts and the Panthers for a hard negotiation, I think they got some great value too, as i said it was hard to move Zack, Ryan and Jon..all good folks and fine hockey players, but doing what I just outlined while only adding 250k to the capsheet made good sense.
