TRADE: The New Jersey Devils have made a trade with the Montreal Canadiens.

To MTL:

James Neal

To NJ:

Anton Slepyshev
MTL 2019 3rd Round Draft Selection

The Habs are thrilled to have this trade announced! We cannot wait to see James in our top-6 this fall to bolster our attack.

A full organizational update and depth chart will follow in the next day or so.

Happy to have Cam and JFK aboard.  We'll update our depth chart tomorrow.

Colorado still has plenty of depth D and now some backup goalies available to anyone still in need.

TRADE: The New York Rangers have made a trade with the Florida Panthers.

To FLA:
Zack Smith

Jon Merrill
Ryan Reaves

To NYR:

Colin Wilson

Kevin Bieksa

Lukas Sedlak
FLA 2018 2nd Round Draft Selection

Very excited to add Zack and Ryan to our bottom-6 forward group, we feel both will provide a lot for us in the bottom part of our lineup and will make us a lot harder to play against. We hope Jon can find his stride and become an everyday NHL defenseman.

Best of luck to Colin, Kevin and Lukas with the Rangers, and thanks to PO for the good ol' negotiation!

Florida is now done with player movement for the summer once a couple of signings get posted!

To NJ:
Hampus Lindholm

To MIN:

Jared Spurgeon
Laurent Broissoit

New Jersey would like to thank GM @Chael P. Sonnen for the productive negotiations. We feel we have added a real top talent in Hampus Lindholm, someone who can help anchor our team's defense for years to come.

We wish Jared Spurgeon and Laurent Broissoit all the best in Minnesota. In this trade we felt Hampus will be the bigger producer down the road, was tough to move our recently acquired backup but Laurent was added for a minor league forward earlier this summer as expansion protection, we felt this was more of a one for one although Laurent has potential and could figure to produce solid numbers with the real life Oilers.

Tough to move James Neal but we felt we needed cap flexibility and this move offered such. In adding Anton Slepyshev we feel we've added a potential top nine forward who can play a big game but produce as well, being locked up for a few years at $ 1.25m per is very manageable for us and made the decision to proceed easier. Anton in real life has flirted with a bigger role and has drawn praise from McLellan in Edmonton, a young up and coming fast, physical forward with very good skills he could prove to be a producer in the League yet.

SIGNING: The New Jersey Devils have signed forward Emil Pettersson to a three year deal.

NJD.png.3da0656b304e0041f69070a6435521fe.png Emil Pettersson: 3 year, $3.75 million dollar contract ( $1,250,000.00 per season ).

The Devils thank agent @_arby_18 for the smooth negotiations, was tense at times but happy to add Emil to the organization, another strong prospect we feel confident in developing into a top nine forward. He will be utilized in Atlantic City where we have much need after last trade deadline's purge lol.

WOW, already addressed...and in this heat! THank you Curt!

I just want to say that it was not easy to move any of these fine young men out of our camp. We saw an opportunity however to get better on Defense, and we already have made some big time signings in Free Agency that improved us in net and on D. Strengthening our depth was priority number one this offseason, getting the most out of our netminding and capitalizing on the blue line without giving up too much of the offensive side of our game. Colin Wilson is a fine fellow to bring into the top nine forward group and to get harder to play against on the blueline AND a 2nd round pick while still adding depth with Lukas Sedlak was an opportunity that will go under the radar league wide, but we feel really shored up our Depth Depth Depth mantra this year. I also learned too late at the draft that an extra 2nd round pick is really important in any draft year, depth at drafting is good too. ; )

Thanks to Otts and the Panthers for a hard negotiation, I think they got some great value too, as i said it was hard to move Zack, Ryan and Jon..all good folks and fine hockey players, but doing what I just outlined while only adding 250k to the capsheet made good sense.

This weekend I will certainly produce an updated depth chart with our new netminder, two new Dmen and some minor changes up front, it is an exciting off season in New York as #werise
