The Habs are really excited for this season, and have been very pleased with how camp has gone so far. Having so many quality players at each position has our coaches dreaming up possible line combos daily, and depth appears to be a major strength.

On top of that, a major bright spot has been the play of young Samuel Blais, who was signed as a UFA last summer. He has really made an impression during camp so far and will get a chance to show his stuff in some preseason games. He wasn't expected to make some noise at this camp, but yet here he is getting some top-6 looks. Could he be a major sleeper for a roster spot?

The Blues will probably start the Season without Jay Bouwmeester and Marian Gaborik.

Quote

Defenseman Jay Bouwmeester will be re-evaluated in three weeks after suffering a left ankle fracture.

Coach John Stevens clarified that Gaborik's previously undisclosed ailment is in fact a chronic knee injury, Jon Rosen of LA Kings Insider reports.

Stevens went on to note that Gaborik will not be joining the team for its exhibition outing in China, as he'll instead be focusing on his recovery. The veteran remains without a timeline to return to action, which leaves his availability for Opening Night against Philadelphia in doubt.

Anyone still looking for depth pieces heading in to the season should feel free to contact COL GM, J.R.

Lots of solid depth D available, a couple depth forwards.
