Canucks will get 78 points.

The Sedins will not be able to stay healthy and will both be around 65 points.

There will be improvement in the defense.

Horvat, Baer, Granlund and Virtanen will make small improvements.

Rodin will only play 40 games but will show enough to resign or trade.

Gudbranson will be what Benning hopes for and Florida will noticeable miss him.

Larsen will be ok but Stecher will push his way up as the season goes on. Larsen will get traded at the deadline.

Burrows will play well on special teams and will get traded.

Dorset will get moved at trade deadline.

Boeser will sign and play at the end of the year.

Juolevi will have an outstanding  year.

Demko will start slow but become Utica's number 1.

Labate will come up and stick.

I see this as being quite accurate / reasonable.    Club is moving in the right direction but does it start with a weak club and  finish with a long run of mediocrity

-  Canucks finish in the 90-95 point range and are right on the bubble for a wildcard spot

-  The pleasant surprise is Rodin who pots 20 goals

-  Edmonton still sucks

-  Toronto still sucks

-  People on CDC still believe that following in the above two teams' footsteps by tanking is the key to success

-  Anaheim, LA, and Dallas are all worse than  last season
-  Nashville is excellent and is vying for top spot in the West all the way to the trade deadline

Oh and I will remind us as to why Konecny should have been picked instead of boeser as he steadily accumulates points in 2016 and beyond. lol

Haven't we had enough 5'10" 175 lb players? Meanwhile back in Dakota, Boeser has 6 points in 2 games and is +5. Off to a crappy start Boes!

I hope we draft a high end forward named Booth soon. Then down the road we can have a top line of Boo, Bo, and Boes.

More realistic than most. No mention of goal tending. I would add Miller onto the trade action. Markstrom will hopefully push Miller aside. I like your Labate move and would add Mike Zalewski.

Because this org has not seriously gone into a rebuild they flirt with disaster as the Twins age. I have harped about the number of vets and that the current roster is carrying to many. Even from a financial perspective the treading water that has gone on for the past 4 years is slowly emptying the stands. At the current pace the Canucks are another 4-5 years away from contention.

Alright, I'll take a crack at this before it's locked.

-Canucks with 80pts, miss the playoffs

-improved defence less than 220GA

-slight improvement in GF to 200

-dysfunctional power-play, near last in the league

-penalty kill top 5

-Boeser has a monster season in NCAA

-season summary: still need to find more scoring

Bad News

Burrows stripped of his A at the 20 game mark and put on waivers

Willie D  - fired at the 30 game mark - TG hired.   JB is allowed to stay on.

Marstrom outplays Miller this year and we have yet another goalie controversy...

Good News

Horvat takes over the on ice leader of our club and becomes the unofficial Captain of our team

TG - is an  amazing coach and our club actually starts to play like a cohesive unit and goes on a 10 game winning streak to end the season.

Sven becomes a sniper on our first Powerplay and ends up with  25 goals this year.

Stecher - plays the second half of the season for the canucks and becomes our Powerplay  QB.

Van finishes #14 OA, to qualify for the Spring Dance, shocking the mangy media-masses. They then play with the grit/determination of 1994.

Final 4 in May:

- Van vs Winterpeg

- Habs vs Hogtown

4 US teams quit the league, in a huff..many Cdn fans celebrate this turn of events. Bettman ousted, & replaced by Bobby Orr.

Finals:

Van beats Mtl in 6(at home!), to begin a run of 5 STRAIGHT CUPS!

canucks will get 89 points and finish just out of the playoffs

sedins will be able to stay mostly healthy and both will improve their points total to around 75 points

modest improvement on defense which shows in the 2nd half of the season

no canuck will score more than 30 goals
hutton becomes our puck moving dman and the 2nd pairing becomes a legitimate top four

goalie tandem plays well and splits games 45 to miller, balance to markstrom

I thought I had already posted to this, but I guess not.

I'll make some guesses:

Canuck Predictions 2016-17.png

I was surprised at how pessimistic my predictions ended up being, though I guess they're not too far off what I expected.

  • Minor improvements in the grand scope of things, but some of the key young guys continuing to improve.
  • Stecher comes up for 9 games and impresses.
  • The Sedins and Eriksson gel pretty well as they have a slightly better year point-wise and get Eriksson 29 goals.
  • Baertschi and Horvat show great chemistry and continue to slowly, but surely improve. Both truly begin to look like top 6 players.
  • Rodin joins Baertschi and Horvat after his injury and meshes well
  • Hutton has a great sophomore year, cementing his identity as an offensive defenseman
  • Sutter has a bit of a rough year from receiving less minutes on the 3rd line
  • Edler and Tanev have average years, not great, not bad
  • Granlund doesn't surprise, but doesn't regress either
  • Hansen has a rough year not playing big minutes
  • Gaunce sticks with the team for most of the year and solidifies himself as an NHL player
  • Virtanen has trouble in his sophomore year and is scratched a few times before being sent down
  • Burrows plays the leader role well, but begins to fall behind the game a bit
  • Larsen and Tryamkin switch in and out of the #6 spot, but neither look particularly promising
  • Biega plays some games to become eligible for the expansion draft
  • Miller looks alright, but a bit shaky at time
  • Markstrom begins to outplay Miller and the team becomes more confident in front of him

The Canucks as a whole finish 11th in the West, with slightly better offense and defense than last year. A step in the right direction.
