Lmao His salary last year was 600K / 125K and he's likely to play mostly in the AHL. So an increase from 125K to 275K in the AHL is not negligible. Then, if you work your ass off, you might have a fringe career like Schroeder, which, let's not kid ourselves, is still better than the vast majority of people that ever play the game. Finally, you've earned a shot at $300k in a year for a hockey career that isn't likely to get much better or, relatively, last much longer. Following ones passions to the bitter end without allowing the trappings of fear, doubt and outter influence interfere is one of the most envious things a person can do.
