It's that time again,

My agent friend who broke the Luongo trade (1st), Lack trade (1st), and recently the picking of Olli over Tkachuk (talked about this ages ago).

Take this for a grain of salt, you do not HAVE to believe what I am about to type, I am just the messenger, figured some people might find it interesting. He has close ties to multiple members in the Canucks organization.

These reports are 100% unconfirmed.

Anyways, Let's begin.

Vermette - Canucks have called to see if he is interested in coming to Vancouver, Right now there are other teams that are showing more interest.

Hudler - Canucks are big time in the mix, should hear about his decision in the next few days, It's down to Two teams, 1 in the west (Canucks), and another team. Europe is his back up option. Canucks have offered a multiple year package, with a mid/low cap hit.

Kris Russel - Canucks have absolutely zero interest. Interesting note about this is the Canucks management is still extremely pissed off at Dallas at the deadline.

Matt Cullen - This is a player that is being discussed, and has been offered a contract, As per a few days ago.

Radim Vrbata - Canucks have double backed on Vrbata, originally had no interest, now they are thinking of bringing him back for a 1 year / 3m type deal. Vrbata has other teams with interest, but wants multiple years.

Olli Juolevi - Canucks are more than high on him, they think he is going to be the next Vlasic in the NHL, expected to go down this year.

Rodin - He has had very minimal training in the offseason due to his injury, he will be at camp, but despite reports, he will not be 100%.

Trades - Canucks made a significant offer to the Montreal Canadians for PK subban. While he does not know the exact piece, the Package did NOT include the 1st rounder this year. Benning wanted NO part in trading it, due to how high he is on Olli. What WAS offered tho was Bo horvat, and another prospect (He belives it was Jordan Subban) he could not find out who, and multiple 1st round picks (assuming 2017/2018).

The Canadians went back to the Canucks and demanded the 2016 1st Rounder. (this all happened BEFORE the comments benning made).

Canucks are not going the route of Evander Kane, even if Vesey goes to buffalo. The canucks have no issue in bringing in a damaged player, with a tricky situation, the problem is that the feds got involved, and this could drag out significantly. That being said, The canucks might double back next season.

Here is another interesting tidbit: Canucks offered the 2017 1st Rounder to Philly for a prospect I can't figure out for.

Owners: They are in control, Benning and Linden have both had multiple discussions with ownership on changing the plan to a rebuild, instead of a retool. The owners want none of it, and made the choice clear, Benning has been hand-strapped since.

Small Tidbits:

Weisbrod was a big part of the Boeser Draft pick, did not expect him to fall. Benning is actually very high on Jordan Subban, sees him as a future #1 PP unit specialist. Look out for Ben Hutton being an assistant captain sooner than Later, he is extremely well liked in the dressing room. (Quite soon huh?) Erikkson has not made any demands to play with the Sedins, unlike Vrbata.

Hope you guys enjoy the info, you can choose to believe it or not, fake or real. I am just the messenger. He has told me facts, and lies before, Not sure this time around. Or I could be making this all up. Up 2 you to decide.

Enjoy

Most of this is plausible.

Most interesting point to me.  The Owners are in Control.  I wonder what this really means.

I've spoken in other threads about the need to stick to a plan.  That's what should happen.  I had thought that this was Linden and Benning who were doing this but it is conceivable that sticking to the plan could come from the Executive level.  It is perfectly fine that ownership be involved with broad strategy and could exercise veto here.  This doesn't mean that they are meddling.  Meddling has more to do with player selection and staffing, things on that level.  I think that it's quite possible that Ownership has had advice from management consultants on how the team should be governed.  As long as they keep their fingers out of the pie and don't try to micro manage, being somewhat involved in high level strategy is ok.

Horvat + for PK Subban......I have a hard time believing this.  It goes against all that Benning has said.  ie  "We won't be trading our young core assets".......were these talks before or after the Gudbranson deal?

:picard:

Grow up. Other teams, in this case Dallas, are not in the business of doing other teams any favours.

These aren't eye-opening insider revelations.

No, they aren't, but they do answer some questions.  Additionally, I tend to feel these might be accurate statements since they are generally all plausible.

The one that I think would have really worried me is the Subban/Horvat talk.  (And apparently it concerned others as well).  As much as having a guy like PK on the back end would be awesome, we have very little high end center depth.  In fact, once the Sedins retire we're pretty much relying solely on Horvat to be an elite 2nd liner at the very least, and hopefully more.  Trading him away for Subban would have had a good immediate impact, but would have hurt us badly in a year or two.  We aren't exactly overflowing with high end winger talent either, but at least we have potential options there.

Pk is a special player and the type of player that is only available once in a blue moon, don't worry, there aren't many players JB would trade Horvat for.

Agreed. Subban is a player I would have moved Horvat for. Whether it was worth doing would have depended on what was added. The offer suggested sounds way too risky, has the potential to end up like the Phil Kessel trade so I am glad talks didn't get too far.

The Subban/Horvat thing was without a doubt talked about before we acquired Gudbranson. There's no way Horvat would have been offered up if we didn't have McCann in our back pocket. It just doesn't make sense. But yeah, that's way too much. Horvat and our high pick. Montreal can just plain and simply stop with that garbage. I could have seen it happening if maybe there was interest in swapping picks in the trade. Either way, I am glad with how it turned out. We are gonna need Horvat. A guy like Subban doesn't become available every day, so it doesn't surprise me Horvat was offered up because that's what it takes. Just...no.

Bring in PK Subban and ship out Jordan Subban? Am I the only one who sees no logic in this?
