The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Monday that the hockey club has signed free agent goaltender Jhonas Enroth to a one-year contract worth $750,000.

Enroth, 28, appeared in 16 regular season games with the Los Angeles Kings, posting a record of 7-5-1 with a .922 save percentage and a 2.17 goals against average. In 147 career regular season NHL games, Enroth has amassed a record of 50-66-15 with a .911 save percentage and a 2.80 goals against average. The Stockholm, Sweden native was originally drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the second round (46th overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

Interesting note: Enroth was drafted with the Canucks' pick (traded for Mika Noronen).

Enroth played 6 seasons for Buffalo before he was traded for Lindback and a 3rd - Casey Fitzgerald. As a rookie NCAA defenseman Fitzgerald scored 27 points in 39 games.

Safe to say we did not win that trade. Noronen was in four games. Had one win, a GAA of 3.52 and a save pct of .870. He left when we signed Luongo (didn't want to be stuck as a backup). He never played in the NHL again.

It is crazy that we paid a 2nd round pick for a crap goalie like Noronen at the deadline when all we got in the offseason for a very effective Eddie Lack was a 3rd & 7th. Noronen now plays in a 2nd-tier Finnish league.
