Outsiders
Quote Thursday morning, the Florida Panthers and Arizona Coyotes made a surprising trade. Florida sent Dave Bolland and Lawson Crouse, the 11th overall pick in the 2015 Draft, to the Coyotes for a second and third round pick. http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/panthers-trade-bolland-crouse-coyotes-two-draft-picks/
Lonny_Bohonos_14
That's a HUGE price to pay for a little financial flexibility. 11th overall pick two drafts ago..
mll
Bolland is 5.5M for the next 3 years. Wasn't there word that they wanted to buy him out but he was injured so a buyout was not possible.

Guest
If true, that is a great deal for Arizona, and a terrible deal for Florida. The only way that deal makes sense for Florida is if they're bringing in a big name player with Bolland's salary - but there aren't any big name free agents left, so perhaps another trade... timberz21
Crouse is overrated. Looked really good as a 17 years old, but seems like he hasn't progressed since. Getting rid of Bolland will be huge for Florida in a year or two.

They are bringing Aaron Ekblad at 7.5M next year instead of 925k. And Reilly Smith is getting a 1.6M raise also. Petrovic and Pysyk will also be RFA. This is a move for the next two year for Florida, not this year.
Warhippy
I say again. Almost every team in our division got a lot stronger this off season. We took a small step forward, the other 3 teams in the bottom of our division took strides. If you cannot win in your division you cannot make the playoffs. Hard to see how we won't fight for every point this year Also, like to point out yet again. How valuable cap space really is. Names traded for simply cap space in the last 5 months include Crouse Chychrun Tueroveinen And I believe one or two more picks/prospects.

I challenge you to look at what Arizona has lost this season compared to what they've gained. Their is zero change they improved their team in the short term. All there moves have been about the long term. Fine I'll do it. #1 Domi Hanzal Duclair vs Sedin Sedin Eriksson #2 Rieder Strome Doan vs Baertschi Sutter Hansen #3 Bolland Dauphin Vbrata Vs Rodin Horvat Etem #4 McGinn Richardson White vs Burrows Granlund Dorsett extra Crouse, Samuelsson vs Virtanen, Greiner, Gaunce LHD OEL, Stone, Michalek vs Edler, Hutton, Trymakin, Sbisa, Pedan RHD Goligoski, Murphy, Schenn, Connauton vs Tanev, Gudbranson, Larsen #1G Smith vs Miller #2G Domingue vs Markstrom From paper, there's not one line they have beat us for next season. They lost players like Vermette and Boedker and replaced that with Vbrata and Bolland. Sure they have a lot of young promising looking players, but most of them will not be on their NHL roster this year. Maybe in a few year with some NHL experience they start to improve there roster but throwing 20 years olds into big roles, in the NHL doesn't always work like Domi and Duclair did. Most of the time it turns out like McCann and Virtanen.

Hard to see how we won't fight for every point this year I'm not sure teams in our division are strides better than last year, I can't think of one trade/signing that has made any team that much better. A full year of a healthy roster could do wonders for our chances, or we could flop IDK. I do know that it doesn't matter how good you look on paper, if players don't gel together they will not succeed

If anything with their low internal cap, Bolland's contract will be an albatross in a few years when they need to re-sign Domi, Duclair, Strome, OEL. R3aL
I wasn't a fan of Crouse from the beginning but it seems like a surprise moving him so soon for so little.

Internal cap no longer seems to apply - Chayka talked about how they know they will need to spend to the cap if they want to be contenders. Not sure it will be applauded to take on Bolland though if he ends being waived or bought out and Crouse doesn't live up to his draft ranking - that's a heavy investment. A step forward yes, but I would argue Vancouver got better as a team though, and Zona still has goaltending questions. Calgary's major moves Brian Elliot, Brouwer, Chiasson, Vey. Not sold on elliot as a #1 and Brouwer is getting old and his foot speed is not what is once was. Edmonton Puljujarvi is real good, but they gave up a 1st line forward for a Dman that imo is a poor fit for the western conference and quite frankly I believe Guddy is a better dman. And we payed less Vancouver's Moves Signed a 1st line forward in Eriksson, Brought in a physical shutdown top 4 dman, brought in two wildcard player who where massive for their teams overseas in Larsen and rodin. Not sure things by any stretch of the imagination but the potential for those two to have big impacts can not be ignored. Larsen as a bottom pair PP Specialist, and Rodin as a 2nd line winger capable of putting up 40-50 points.
