I think we can start expecting a sell off soon if they apply the right laws and pressure

Let's hope it's done right. High time this happens. That will go a long way towards currying public favor for the NDP, although I'm sure those who voted Liberal will find some issue with the investigation.

German said stricter controls were required, because Lower Mainland casinos were unwittingly serving as "laundromats" for the proceeds of crime.

 

BCLC is just as crooked if they failed to do anything about dudes rolling in with Santa Claus like bags full of cash and leaving without dropping a dime.

I agree. People and organizations need to actually be held accountable. It's truly pathetic how passive and lenient this province is.

Sounds like prices in the city are following.....    probably prices in the Valley to now follow

Hopefully not

Lots of construction jobs will be lost if people stop buying houses.

Too much supply now coming on board for Vancouvers growth rate. 

Combined with China's new foreign investment regs.....

 

Looks like  a few years of dropping prices here in BC.   Big time investors here  in the know.....     were dumping property last May.

Aunt said they have 1000 unsold condos in victoria.

 

Cost is the biggest factor.

I can't seem to find this anywhere... Can you get a loan for a down payment on a apartment well already having a student loan? Or will the banks only give you the loan if you have no student loans?

All depends on your gross debt service ratio. My guess is no as most students can barely qualify for their student loan. The stress test is a mofo as well.

I don’t think you can borrow the down payment, unless it’s from family.  Even then that family member needs to sign a form or something.

I've heard talks that they may be getting rid of the stress test soon. Would anyone have insight into this?

Looking at this thread is eerily similar to the Quadriga reddit threads: those who already got a house when prices were good many years ago got lucky, like those who pulled their money out of the exchange, and those who don't have a house are like those who lost their money: totally &^@#ed with a large side of false hope.

Pretty sad I can buy 6,000 square feet in Montana for $300k USD but that'll cost me 1.5 million in the Valley. I would leave this dump in a heart beat if I enjoyed the prospect of moving away to a strange land and not knowing anybody there.

Free everything for everyone! Explain how you make housing affordable. I have ideas but they have 0 to do with a stress test.
