A bit late to the party, but the Jets are thrilled with our draft outcome. Only 1 pick, but it was used on Matthew Philip, a player I coach. Hope to see him get drafted to the NHL tomorrow, so he and DeMelo can lead the team for years to come!

We have a trade to announce...

To COL: Calvin Pickard

To VGK: COL 2018 1st Round Pick

Cheers to @Caboose for making this deal happen. As you all may know, this will be the first of multiple goalie moves, and we feel it will set a good precedent for the goalies we move next. Happy to add a 1st round pick next year, we'll heavily lean towards building through the draft and through trades as opposed to free agents.

Las Vegas Knights Draft Report

#6 Casey Mittlestadt (drafted #8 by Buffalo - 2)

#34 Jake Oettinger (drafted #26 by Dallas + 8)

#65 Evan Barratt

#88 Noel Hoefenmayer

#97 Mario Ferraro

Pretty pleased where Casey and Jake went today.

In all honesty, I wanted Casey to be drafted by either the Rangers or the Sabres, and I'm happy with the Sabres (as long as its not Detroit right?). Casey and Eichel will both be key parts of the Sabres and USA Hockey in the future I hope ;)

As for Jake, we knew there'd be a good chance he go in Round 1, and it was likely coming down to Dallas, St. Louis or Ottawa. Having traded up to get him, we feel Dallas is also a great fit for Jake. They don't have a high end goalie prospect in the system and by signing Bishop, they won't need to rush Jake up to the big team at all.

Looking forward to day 2!

I don't know if I would like anything Philadelphia is doing right now.

I debated this with you a few months ago.

No mas, No mas!

As as a fantasy owner I'm tickled to see Schenn command two first round picks plus.  And land on St Luiis!

Almost as tickled to see Ryan Strome land on a developing thoroughbred offensive team. We'll see if he can hack it?

Also as a fantasy owner, jacked to see Petterson land 5th. And as a Canuck fan!.

Not too fussed that he landed in Vancouver as  a fantasy owner.  He was always a 2 to 4 year plan. Canucks should be out of hibernation at least by then?

Carolina Hurricanes Draft vs. IRL

Excluding Joseph Woll

Shane Bowers #26 - Ottawa #28

Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen #35 - Buffalo #54

Morgan Geekie #56 - Carolina #66

Luke Martin #77 - Carolina #52

Josh Brook #62 - Montreal #56

All in all, really happy with where my guys were drafted and, more importantly, who they went to; particularly Ukko, Geekie, and Martin. Buffalo and Carolina are set up incredibly well going forward.

Your Vancouver Canucks have watched our draft picks from the CFL Entry Draft'17 get selected over the past two days in the NHL draft...and while it isn't necessarily a huge indicator, we are very pleased to say that each and every player we selected in this years draft went higher IRL than we got them in our draft.

Picked at 31st OA in the CFL draft, Urho Vaakanainen selected by Boston at 18th OA in the NHL Draft.

Picked 48th by us, Jason Robertson went at 39th today to Dallas

Picked at 93rd by us, Alex Formenton has gone to Ottawa at 47th

Picked 112th by us, Nate Schnarr gone at 75th to Aruzina today.

Picked at 124th by us, Netminder Ian Scott at 110th went to Toronto.

All together every one of our picks was a higher NHL draft and collectively we moved up 112 spots with all five of our picks.  Thank you scouting department!

#43 Aleksi Heponiemi (went #40 +3)

Pretty spot on except for Elvenes who was a gamble. Happy with that!

Las Vegas Knights Draft Report

#65 Evan Barratt (drafted #90 by Chicago - 25)

#88 Noel Hoefenmayer (drafted #108 by Arizona  - 20)

#97 Mario Ferraro (drafted #49 by San Jose + 48)

Although Barratt and Hoefenmayer dropped, happy with the organizations they went to in Chicago and Arizona. Hopefully we found ourselves a nice little sleeper pick in Ferraro who was picked very high by San Jose.
