We still have some work to do with the bottom 6 and there are some potential trades in queue that can address those needs, and we hope to complete them when the roster freeze is over. We are satisfied this team will be able to bring in to the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and hopefully pave a road to the cup. We were very excited to acquire a young bud of a goalie in Petr Mrazek. We gave up a very steep price to acquire him but we think in the end that if he can put up Wins and steal games like we know he is capable of, it will make everyone foreget what we gave up for him. Reimer will do well as a backup/1B to Mrazek and we hope they can combine to be one of the better duos in the NHL. It was the end of an era again as we dealt Luongo to boston for young D Morrow and McQuaid who we later shipped out for Justin Braun. We like Braun as he was a bit younger and more set up for our young D core. Though the D core is young, we have full faith that they will be able to do some damage pt wise from the back end, as well as stay physical and strong defensively and know there responsibilities. Melker Karlsson was acquired to give us that umph on the 3rd line as well as a little swedish touch with his offense. We are giving McCann a chance on the 3rd line, though we debated sending him to the minors to start the year. We hope that he wont let us down and that the experience of Jussi Jokinen can help his play. Again we hope to get a couple more deals done before puck drop, but we are happy with the make up and the young Core that we have established!
