ShakyWalton
Once again this is a rumour but from a reliable source..... We have an unconfirmed rumor and it's a big one. According to a French language report out of Montreal from DLC, the first National Hockey League head coach to be fired this season will be Vancouver Canucks coach Willie Desjardins, and furthermore according to the report the decision has already been made. DLC claims that they have been informed by a very reliable source in Vancouver that not only will Desjardins be fired, but also that the man who will take over behind the Canucks bunch is American Hockey League coach Travis Greene, who is currently behind the bench for the Utica comets. DLC is usually a very reliable source, but seeing as they are currently the only source reporting this information it is a rumour
apollo
Why Green? Can we please get a proven Winner? Bob Hartley please.
Kaner
1 minute ago, apollo said: Why Green? Can we please get a proven Winner? Bob Hartley please. This. IF the Canucks fire Willie, I think it's best for us to wait until the end of the season to see what other coaches are available. Green is great and all, but what else is he going to pull out of this roster that Willie hasn't besides handling a few players ice time better? Devon Jade
I wonder how many goals Crosby would have scored in a season if WD went to the Pens instead... He probably would have put him on the 4th line and say something like "it's about real good efficiency". 5-10 goals in 82 games?
oldnews
"Very reliable source" wouldn't be the Province by any chance lol. I'm not buying this. Canucks made a recent statement refuting this - I doubt that's changed in the past few days, or that they were blowing smoke - not their style. If this were Renaud Lavoie I might take it more seriously.
Beary Sweet
I don't want to be a hater or anything but I hope this isn't true. He will eventually turn it around. He just doesn't have any game changers in the team other than just a few like Eriksson, Sedins, etc. also I don't think it's Willie's fault that the team is doing bad. mll
7 minutes ago, apollo said: Why Green? Can we please get a proven Winner? Bob Hartley please. Hartley was let go because he plays dump & chase when the league is trending towards possession. Also Burke felt that some of their key players was not getting the ice time they wanted them to get. Bo fan
Don't really see where this would benefit the team this year - a new coach can't make these players any better then they are. Be another waste of $'s - aren't we still paying Torts too?
Junkyard Dog
Need to go into rebuild. A coaching change is alright but kind of meaningless.

goblix
I'm all for Green as the interim head coach here. See what he can do, what his system looks like and make an assessment after the system. My top candidate for head coach is still Crawford. Guy at least has a pulse behind the bench. Guest
Too good to be true. We're going to be stuck with real good Willie for a while yet

I think it would be more of a case of Green becoming an interim coach for the rest of the season to see what he can do. Then at the end of the season they can go through the interview process, including interviewing Green, and then make a decision. I think it's likely they'll lose Green at the end of the season if he doesn't become our permanent head coach. Might as well see what we have. VanGnome
This seems to jive with Virtanen going down for two games, which is basically until the road trip ends. Virtanen gets some significant minutes in Utica under Green, then comes back up and ready to rock n roll. Once the team is back in Vancouver, Willie is canned. ForsbergTheGreat
14 minutes ago, apollo said: Why Green? Can we please get a proven Winner? Bob Hartley please. Green would probably be promoted as an interim head coach to the end of the year like wsh did with hunter with the impression that if he shows some promise they will resign him in the summer. I think a coaching change basically signifies that this year will be about development. No new coach will realistically be hired with playoff expectations. canucklehead80
If this does happen and Green is promoted, I think the rest of the season is more about Travis getting accustomed to the NHL and the team than results. Can't help but wonder if it would just be better to make Jarvis interim HC and play out the season before promoting or making a decision on Green.
