Isn't there a socialist government in Alberta now?  Plus, that's a girlie name - Alberta.

Anyone in BC, who does not hate Toronto, should be forced to leave.  Except for Mrs. Alf, of course.

Ya kids from B.C moved here and voted them in.

But her approval rating is so low, 2019 can't come fast enough.

I love Toronto. really hope to move there sometime soon.

only been twice, but each time I had nothing but positive experiences with extremely friendly people.

The idea popped into my head one day. Two weeks later I was packing up my things and making the trek. I'd recommend cutting through the US - Yellowstone Park, the Badlands, and some other sites are a real treat.

I wouldn't say it was easy, but the move wasn't too difficult. My wife and I both found better jobs, and we've travelled to Europe multiple times and New York in just 14 months (direct flight to Spain including taxes was $391!). It took me less time to get from my apartment to Newark Airport than Newark Airport to my hotel in Brooklyn. Porter Airlines out of Toronto Island is awesome.

The housing market here is pretty crazy, but living in Vancouver made it easy to brush it off. It is not nearly as insane as New York or San Fran.

As a sports fan it is awesome having the Jays and Raptors. I didn't watch a single basketball game after the Grizzlies left. Raps games are incredibly fun and upper bowl seats against bad teams go for really cheap. I saw four Comets vs Marlies games last season which is a good time as well.

If you like cities and travelling I highly recommend it. There is still a tonne of nature things to do, but it isn't as big a part of people's lives here.

Winters here are not that bad. Torontonians are the Vancouverites of the east when it comes to winter. Montreal gets it waaaay worse but don't complain. When it snows the city shuts down and becomes a ghost town. The weather is colder but it rains way less and winter can be quite nice (very sunny). There are four distinct seasons. 52 outdoor frozen rinks in the city is great.

I was listening to the Sullivan bacshing of Vancouver then listened in on Blake Price assessing why the fans and certain people have a dislike for Toronto whether it may be politics, the people or the sports. I got to being curious. If you have a dislike for Toronto, why?

I dislike them because in my mind, the Federal government sees Toronto as a number one priority compared to Vancouver, I dislike the fact that by the time the Elections reaches British Columbia, it's usually over.I dislike the fact that we got our baketball team ripped out of our hands while they still have thiers. (Envy, I know) What are you reasons?

I Guess it's the same as why most British Columbians outside of the lower mainland  hate Vancouver (not the Canucks or lions though).

the 'we live in the centre of the universe' bugs me, when in reality its over populated, have bad air quality ,lake ontario is polluted to the point of no swimming notices and don't eat the fish from the lake notices , had a crack head mayor that for the whole time was a national disgrace,  constant bragging about toronto leads me to beleave that most people from ontario have never been to our beautiful province, there by never having anything to compare their over rated city too,  plus theres the never ending media bias which for me is really old.

I dont think people so much hate Toronto as they do resent it. I believe we resent them for all the attention they get, when geographic areas such as the west coast are far more beautiful in my opinion.  Sorry TO but where in Ontario can you golf, surf and snowboard all in the same day. Id take my lifestyle, (especially on the island ) over that hustle and bustle any day.

I dont hate TO at all  I hate the ignorance spread by the eastern media but hey when the majority of the countries pop lives in your province  you can expect some favoritism lol.

All this Alberta hate is hilarious xD   Hate the gov and the system not the people and the province.  All the outsiders that have come into he province to help rape it of it's resources come from all the other provinces.   The hypocrisy is real.

Born and raised in BC family had me move to Alberta in the early 80's a veritable paradise on its last legs as the big booms of the past  and present brought in the unemployed eastern Canadians and adventurous Americans.  The true Albertan is Canadian gem. Hard working, polite and to the point. Over the years the influx of other cultures and ideals in hopes of fattening their wallets has jaded the entire province from top to bottom.

Just had a great conversation with a  Malaysian born person who is now a Canadian citizen.  Says Albertans are the most polite Canadians yet and has lived in both the eastern and western provinces. I have heard and still hear this from so many  visiting foreigners travelers.

Blame the gov for allowing the systematic raping of Alberta's resources but dont blame the people for trying to eek out a better life

Sums up my time in Toronto very well.  However there was a pervading "only in it for myself" attitude that I found much more common in Toronto.  Granted I'm in business which is only a microcosm of folks in the city but Vancouver has a very different, almost idealistic approach to business and entrepreneurship.  It makes life infinitely more enjoyable to make true friends in business instead of associates and acquaintances.

Plus I desperately need to be near a mountain and an ocean in order to truly get lost in the outdoors.  If Toronto had those, I would be much more inclined to move there.

I hear ya. I think the biggest loss is for people who ski and snowboard, Blue Mountain sucks and Mt Tremblant is a bit of a trek.

The Scarborough Bluffs are pretty awesome and only about 16KM from downtown. There is also a lot of hiking around Hamilton, which really surprised me as I thought it was just a dirty industrial town. If you trek out a bit further there are a tonne of great places: http://www.hikebiketravel.com/34845/the-top-10-hikes-in-ontario/

I am in the software industry, and one thing I noticed about the work culture is that it is very work hard/play hard and people really intertwine work with social life. I agree that it is a lot of fun to make true friends at work vs them just being coworkers. In Vancouver I did make a few very close lifelong friends at work, but it took a long time and wasn't at a large scale. Here people make me feel like I am their best friend when I can't even remember their name.

Toronto is fine as a city. Visited a few times, people there seemed alright. Its the treatment the Leafs receive from the league and eastern media that is annoying.

I sure don`t like the transplanted leaf fans that were mean mugging me at the game on Saturday. Its our building, our team and if I want to stand up and shout after even the shootout goals I will do so. My wife knows I`ve always been up for a chicklet scramble, she helped me avoid a few lumps that night I think.

Vancouver has a "we're the best, everywhere else sucks" and "we should be more important" type of attitude. Constantly you see articles "why Vancouver is better than xyz" etc. This type of thinking seems almost non-existent in Toronto.

Vancouver whines and complains they don't get the attention Toronto gets while looking down on cities like Calgary and Edmonton.

When I moved to Toronto people acted like I was insane, expected me to hate it, and be moving back right away. To be honest I absolutely love it here and the idea of going back to BC one day makes me sad (despite the fact I miss all of my family and friends there).

In general, people in Toronto don't have a "were the best" attitude. They only say positive things about other cities and provinces. And really, overall, identify themselves as Canadians, not Vancouverites or "the best coast". They take more pride in being from Canada than Toronto. This doesn't mean they don't love their city.

Edit: I should also note that I do actually like living here. I miss Vancouver for many reasons, but I'm glad that I'm in Toronto at this stage in my life. But yes, some people here are bloody obnoxious about their city.

I will respectfully disagree. I, too, grew up in Vancouver and moved out to Toronto about 3 years ago. I don't think that it's that Torontonians don't have a "we're the best" attitude, it's that they don't bother with the comparisons because they don't feel the need to defend the statement. They are very aware that the rest of the country (especially Vancouver/the west coast) have a bit of an inferiority complex (for a variety of reasons, sports and politics included) and aren't afraid to embrace it - as evidenced by their "Toronto vs. Everybody" sweaters. I've had plenty of people tell me that Vancouver is boring and that clearly the reason I'm in Toronto is because Vancouver sucks (with no knowledge of my background or reasoning).

There isn't so much a "hatred" for anyone else here, but a serious "haters gonna hate" attitude that is born out of a strange American-style patriotism for Toronto.

I wouldn't say I hate Toronto. It's just 'different' from here and offers different things. They're a much bigger population base and bigger city so they do tend to have more night life, sports, entertainment etc options. Vancouver's surprisingly pretty comparable on restaurants despite being much smaller though.

My biggest dislikes would be the climate (cold as balls in the winter, hot and humid in the summer vs Van's temperate climate), it's lack of mountains/oceans and it's AWFULLY damn grey through the winter (all concrete, minimal evergreen trees etc). It's like being in a cold, grey, dystopian future setting . But I dislike cities in general and much prefer mountains, lakes, oceans etc anyway. BC's better for that stuff in general. Granted, the outdoors aren't everyone's cup of tea, so I can understand why many would prefer Toronto for those things (though I'd suggest Montreal's an even better alternative, if that's your thing).

They're a bit American-like in their attitudes though. Not so much that they think they're better than everyone else, more that they couldn't even be bothered to care about you or where you're from. It's pretty much Toronto or 'not Toronto' and that gets heavily amplified by the media, politics etc.
