No suspension for McLeod

So here we go again, another blind side hit on a Canucks player and no punishment whatsoever. For the league to let this crap (not to mention Brad Marchand's slew foot attacks) is a disgrace. DOPS is a joke...just another attempt to injure that goes unnoticed and unpunished. Keep your heads up boys! The league isn't going to do a thing if your wearing Canuck colors!!!

I bet the same people complaining about these kinds of hits are the same people who were happy with enforcers being eliminated.

Be careful what you wish for...

Myth about enforcers - that they ran around exacting retribution for every cheap shot.

Fact of the matter is that enforcers fought enforcers while cheap shot artists stood behind them.

McLeod may be an exception - a guy that would answer his own bell - but the idea that enforcers were there to jump whoever threw a cheap shot is a myth.

Instead of talking about whether McLeod's hit was clean, I really think that we should all be thankful that Baertschi didn't get a call from the NHL Department of P(o)S for (take your pick):

  1. illegally hitting opponent's shoulder with his head. Good thing McLeod avoided it by swinging his arm a bit.
  2. Academy Award worthy embellishment
  3. side-slew-foot. Good thing McLeod's a pretty good skater.
  4. butt-ending opponent's groin. Good thing McLeod's...

On a serious note, I hope Baertschi recovers from his concussion very quickly.

DoPS never disappoints! They have newly introduced a way to land a head shot without getting suspended.

First, skate towards the player that you want to lay out.

Second, pretend that you don't see the player by having your head facing the direction of the puck.

Third, lower your shoulder just before contact. Make sure to use your peripheral vision to make sure that you will not be hurt from the collision and that you can get your target.

Final step, "run" into the guy with your shoulder on his head.

Easy.

So I strolled by the NHL site, to see if any explanations were being bandied about...

- One article was about LGBBQ rights, or something? Lesbian & gay BBQ's? Hey, why not, right? Relieved they FINALLY got round to these crucial matters.

- Then another about Tariq Al Ali (VIP in Dubai) visiting the Caps dressing room(hope they were decent!). All this atta time the establishment is mighty worried about relationships between good honest Muslim people(don't listen to Trumpy, & his 7 nation-blarmy!) & our 4th line (usually) Christian-grinders.

So hockey's spreadin out & addressing all these disconcerting social matters..how wonderful.

So much on their plate, they Baerly have time for our trivial concerns :^/ ...

bae-hit

Maybe he did intend on running into Baer but there is no way to determine if he targeted the head as he doesn't seem to take even one glance at Baer. That's a routine interference play that just went horribly wrong. Don't think there was even a chance of a suspension here.

Blind side head shots are becoming an art form.
