Why would the owner accompany Linden in any trade negotiations and not Benning? Just seems odd.

Because this particular owner wants us to make the playoffs and there have been too many articles/conspiracies that this owner gets involved a lot, therefore he wants to be part of this trip

Didn't he go to Luongo's to speak to him about being traded too?  Our owner is involved in hockey decisions, obviously.  It's his team, so why not?

Just now, Black Mountain said:

He went to Luongo'so place to tell him they had a deal in place to trade Schneider and beg him to come back to Vancouver.

You made me think that Miller could be down there visiting his wife and Linden/Aquilini are there to discuss the possibility of a trade...

It's ok to speculate guys, don't let these lifers ruin it for you.

If it's the Futa thing, great. Though I always thought Linden's position was just a figurehead, maybe now it will be more of a leadership role above Benning.

I think it could be for a potential trade, maybe viewing some of the prospect teams down there. Could also just be a fat guy and a tall guy boarding a private jet.

I'm personally hoping for a Miller deal.

UPDATE: Unverified rumour on Reddit is that Trevor Linden is going to step down as president with Mike Futa from the L.A. Kings being his successor. I wouldn't trust this as it provides no source, but a scary thought if it has some weight. :(

What?  Is it a slow news day?  I don't believe it for a second.

Maybe just testing the trade waters eh?  Maybe not even that.

This post in Reddit pretty much covers my thoughts:

This is all a little strange.

  • Trevor stepping down. On his own?
  • Otherwise if Trevor is being replaced, why is he going?
  • If Benning isn't going, and Futa has been a highly sought after GM candidate, maybe Trevor is not stepping down and Benning is being replaced?
  • But why would we do that right before a very important trade deadline?
  • Has Benning &^@#ed up the TDL really bad?
  • Did Aquilini veto a ridiculous trade and become very unhappy with Benning?
  • If not all that...what the &^@# is going on?
  • And what is Trev going to do afterwards? Is he going to stay with the team, or go back to running Club16? Or demote himself to VP because he's in over his head as Pres?

Aquaman getting directly involved is never a good sign.
