[Proposal] Canucks & Leafs

Hansen, Tanev, Subban

for

Nylander & Kapanen

The leafs need defence and the Canucks need some young scoring forwards

the Leafs have Marner and Mathews exempt from the expansion draft.  They can protect both Hansen and Tanev and only have to expose polak.  Hansen fills in for Nylander with better defence and the Leafs add one of the best defensive d-men in the league and a offensive d prospect .

the Canucks add two very young player with potential who can score.

I don't think they would have any interest in Hansen. Nylander for Tanev makes sense theoretically but Hansen and Subban for Kapanen simply doesn't. They have plenty of wingers so much so that they are having trouble giving all of them ice time.

Hansen + Tanev

for

Nylander + Bracco

Maybe this is an other option, then we could use subban for another trade or he stays with the canucks.

Not a chance in hell Lou would go for that trade. He'd ask for WAY more than Hansen, Tanev and Subban. Tanev is probably one of the best defensive defensemen in the league right now. It would be a stupid move for us to give up such a critical piece for even Nylander.

Thank god someone has a sense of value on Tanev. The only trade involving Tanev with TO is 1 for 1 for Nylander. Period Save Hanson for Pittburg for a 1st and a prospect.

Everyone seems to be focused on goal scorers (which are important) but having a team full of goal scorers doesn't mean anything if you don't have the defense to back it up.

Very true but we can in our situation use our depth at D to aquire some scoring talent or picks..

Shattenkirk is better offensively by a lot.  Tanev is better defensively by a lot.

tiebreaker Tanev isn't a UFA and will be much cheaper than Shattenkirk.  Also Toronto needs to prevent goals against not score more.  I'm sure the leafs would like hansen's defensive game for these reasons as well.

I think the Leafs would prefer Tanev over Hutton because even though Hutton does not need to be protected it is not a huge issue for T.O.

it does solve the canucks expansion draft issues though at both forward and defence.  I don't think Subban will be a regular NHL d-man so I hope the Canucks can trade him to someone who thinks he will be.

To to solve our expansion draft issues and make a big step towards fixing our offensive issues would be a deadline dream come true imo. Then just trade Burrows and if possible Miller too.
