According to Russo, he's not too happy about being in the AHL so the Wild are trying to see if someone would claim him.

if we end up dealing a forward or two by the deadline and we arent willing to call up Virtanen. Why not claim Pulkkinen and see what he can do here?

Hrm, why are the Wild unloading 3 dudes? Potential trade?

would have to think that is the case. doing it just to make them waiver eligible still cant be the only reason. Sounds like they just want Pulkinnen to get claimed, highly doubt a team trades an asset for him unless its to rid themself of a contract so they dont put in a claim.

Detroit is unloading, likely they put in a reclaim?

The roster limit is lifted at the TDL.

Carter was just signed today to an NHL contract for the rest of the season (playoff depth) so he has to go through waivers to get to Iowa - he was there on a PTO.

Instead of me paraphrasing - from Russo in the Star Tribune.  Other teams could be in the same situation re waiver reset.

Dalpe was placed on waivers I'm guessing to reset his waiver clock. He's at nine games, so if the Wild wants to send him down after tomorrow's game, he'd need waivers (and you can't waive anybody past Wednesday, so the Wild wouldn't want to get stuck).

If he gets taken tomorrow, at least the Wild can react. I can't imagine the Wild would want to find out somebody grabbed him on waivers Wednesday -- three hours before the deadline, so that's why you do it today.

Pulkkinen is way more complicated. This resets his waiver clock, too, but he's not happy he has been stuck in Iowa and wants to be elsewhere.

By placing him on waivers, the Wild's giving him that ability. If he clears waivers, this is also a way of the Wild letting all 29 GM's know that he's available for trade by Wednesday's 2 p.m. deadline without sending a memo to all 29 teams.

So bottom line with Pulkkinen: If he clears waivers, Wild's no doubt willing to trade him by Wednesday.

Why on Earth would we ever call up Virtanen?  Even if we had 22 cases of mumps...

well he is our top prospect that we can recall. If we played him in the nhl last year....although with our current nhl coach im glad Virtanen isnt up here
