[Trade] Coyotes trade Martin Hanzal, Ryan White, 4th-round pick to Wild for Grayson Downing, 1st-round pick, 2nd-round pick, conditional pick

Recommended Posts

The Canucks don't have a Martin Hanzel type player so it's not like Benning could have made this trade regardless so why is everyone freaking out?  If anything it was a huge overpayment by Minnesota.

Ben Bishop is a better goalie then Miller at this point in their careers so LA went with the better goalie.

People need to relax

Trade deadlines not done yet but if Benning doesn't do something then his head should be on the chopping block after the draft haha. Still places players can go but NMCs and NTCs are really a curse on this club in the last two years.

Agree with you.

Great deal for both teams. Minni really going for it and Arizona really tanking for the 1st overall, but stocking picks nicely. This is a classic rebuild and contending move and will be nothing but positive for both teams.

Downing isn't a bad prospect, bit old but almost a PPG in the AHL is decent. White hasn't been fantastic but gives the Wild some gritty depth if they need, a nice 13th man.

Arizona really got a lot out of this trade, considering Hanzal is probably good for 20+ goals pace (top-6 gritty, two-way forward) but not good for very much longer. Rental forward + fringe gritty fringe NHLer for a 20-30 overall pick, 30-50 pick, conditional pick and B-grade prospect.

That's how you rebuild folks. Arizona will probably end up with a top-2 pick anyway, this Minnesota pick just gives them a free shot at a lurking star in the later picks of the first and second round.

I will, literally, eat my hat if Arizona turns it around.  They are doing it totally wrong, imo.

What's Doans problem? Hanzal is gonna resign with phx in the offseason and he just accelerated their rebuild. Doan just doesn't have the balls to leave phx, he has had so many chances to be a relevant player in the NHL but he gave them up because he believed in Mike Smith. Womp womp womp.

Everyone that is feeling out wants to draft all the players, sign all the players, waive all the players and trade for all the players.

I wonder why everyone seems to think that Vancouver always has to be the first team to make trades at the deadline.

I trust that the trades that can be made will be made and the ones that don't work out won't be made.

As the saying goes, "sometime the best trades are the ones you don't make. This is worth keeping in mind when we are expecting JB to rush to be first off the post to give assets away..

because regardless of what most fans think, hockey players are very loyal to their teammates.  Sure, it's a business, but that doesn't mean they lke it.

Ok, so didn't claim him but waited for him to clear and then trades for him.

Either way, it's fallout from this trade.

Wish we'd done this. Suppose MIN may already have had agreement in place as part of the larger deal with ARZ though to trade him once he cleared.

This is so déjà Vu. I remember all the cool and collected Benning lovers saying "calm down people there is still 5mins till the end of the trade deadline" as Benning sat and look at his blackberry in defeat.

Same thing will happen this year guys. Just turn off your phone and enjoy the season finally of the curse of oak island tonight.

So how about that Dahlen trade eh?

wow arizona really knows how to rebuild for the 10th year in a row or so

Yet every year everyone always says what a great draft they had and list all their prospects.

that team is not going anywhere no matter how much talent they draft.
