If TL and JB really want the Canucks to get younger and rebuild, then they should relieve Willie of his duties after the season and bring in Travis Green as soon as they can. Green would be a good coach for the young players.

Thats my point. Sutter/Megna play a dump and chase style a fair bit offensively. Goldobin fits better with an off the rush/hanging onto the puck style like Baertschi and Horvat like to employ.

Fair enough, I get your point

I nominate TP to do every single GDT.  Epic.

I feel no pressure for us to win...coasting, as we put the pieces together for a down the road deal.  Want the guys to keep playing hard and not get lethargic, that can be habit forming.    Although I feel a lull and miss the intensity of the playoff race, I now have teams that will keep me interested.  I always watch and love the playoffs, whether or not we're involved...but the Sens and Sharks will keep me emotionally invested.

GCG....let's start building a new foundation.

Glad to see you back in the saddle, as it were :)

So...in a recent Benning presser he said that Goldy would be playing in the top 6.

I wonder how frustrated Jim is with Willie ??

Top 9 is fine for his debut..I do think he has to demonstrate somewhat that he can play in the top 6...If he starts the 2nd or 3rd line with the plugs on the 4th line, that's when the red flags will go up.

Sutter has lots of skill and Megna has speed to burn.

Sutter and Megna are both good skaters and two-way players.  Goldobin should fit right in, and being the better playmaker we'll see if he can create opportunities.

For all those disparaging Willie, these last 19 games will not determine whether he returns or not next year.  Wins and losses at this point don't matter, and he realizes that so we are going to see the young players play.  Goldobin projects to be top-6 and while we all want to see him with Horvat and Baertschi, that time will come.  There's no rush -- he's got good linemates to start with and get used to the team and systems.  Rest assured, if the Canucks are having trouble scoring (as they usually do) we'll see the lines mixed up, and Goldobin put into a more offensive role is one of the ways it'll be done.

I love your optimism that Willie will all of a sudden go against what he has done for 2 years.

I will not be surprised to see Goldobin under 10 min total ice time.

Last month WD was still referring to Sutter as the 2nd line.

Tired of Willie and his hard on for mediocre players.. No more Megna please....I hear Boucher is out and Goldobin is in.. And so is Megna, yay. I guess cause Boucher has been back checking like a champ and scoring, he should totally be demoted again.. Willie is a motivation specialist of the first order!

Well, Benning said as much during the post-TDL presser, that the young guys are going to get a chance to show what they can do.  Coach still divies the icetime, but with two vets gone that opens two roster spots for next season so it's audition time.  NG could well get <10min tonight, but if he earns more he'll get it.  Coaches are pretty big on trust.

That is a recent trend though. The match-ups on the road seem to be intended to negate Bo's offensive output; forcing him to spend more time defending.

Not really recent - it started becoming more obvious since early January.

Actually after Baer's scratch in December and up to his concussion they had zone starts on the road of close to 60% (that's Sedin's territory) while at home they were at 35% - weird but I guess they can dictate matchups at home.  With Hansen replacing Baer on that line it dropped to 40% on the road (small sample of 6 games).   It might not mean anything or it might have to do with style of play.  Burrows was saying that with Hansen they play more North-South while with Baer he likes to hold on to the puck and make plays - earlier he was saying that Horvat is so fast and that Baer is so creative with the puck.  WD also explained that Hansen wasn't on the PP because he is more of an off-the rush player.

I am curious to see how it goes with Eriksson.  Although now with less experienced players in the lineup going forward I am not sure there is much to read in zone starts/deployment.  Last game they had zone starts of 10%.  I am guessing they will see tough matchups which should allow the Sutter line with Goldobin to be more sheltered.

Boucher completely has outplayed Megna and the plumber Megna gets to stay in the lineup. And certain fools (Alfstonker) blame the roster!!

Willie is so far from a player's coach it's ridiculous

I am sure the players are well into the Willie firing party planning
