Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman is now reporting that Blaine Byron, a 22-year-old center that played for University of Maine in 2016-2017, is looking to head to free agency rather than sign with the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Penguins selected Byron in the fifth round of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, and now there is speculation that the big college free agent signing from the Penguins organization earlier this week may have played a role in his decision. Likely for Byron this is a question of looking for a team that will give him the best shot at making the NHL roster quickly, and preferably with a significant role in the line up. There's been no word yet on what teams may be in the mix for Byron here. Byron had 18 goals and 23 assists for 41 points in 38 games this season. cebook
TheHitman
cc: Jim Benning Quote Byron is a playmaking forward with a high hockey IQ. He is very good at creating offensive both off the rush and down low and has excellent vision and anticipation, which allow him to create space. Aside from adding strength and size, Byron needs to develop more of a shooter mentality, if only to cause opposing defensemen to back off a little. He also needs to simplify his game and learn when to chip in the puck and when to carry it.Read more at http://www.hockeysfuture.com/prospects/blaine-byron/#u8mX3rO5jELPFBCO.

PhillipBlunt
It's likely a reverse Aston-Scott-Martin-Reeses Pieces reaction. As well, bobby, what's with the plethora of white space at the end of the post?

But it's not and this roster needs all the help it can get. bloodycanuckleheads
Wow, look at the year he had! Not that it was that phenomenal, but compared to the rest of his team, boy... Over a point-per-game. And he only had one other teammate who scored over 23 points - and that guy is 5'7" and 150lbs! They threw him to the wolves (and he still held up pretty well). His contract should have been extended in the summer. Their garbage fans don't deserve such a talent IMO. It was BS Crosby got the Conn Smyth over Bones. Bonino was the playoffs MVP.
