Forgot about Stevens...he was a candidate last go around wasn't he? What was the story there? Didn't want to leave LA? Can't remember...

He is going to take over from Sutter when he moves on - LA Kings feed said it was already decided.

Am I the only person that voted Hitchcock? lol

He's got a ton of experience as an NHL head coach, won a Cup (with Dallas) and Gold at the 2014 Olympics (as A/Coach) and he wouldn't put up with lazy play. He doesn't explode like Torts, but he gets his point across. Might be a bit on the old side, but who cares, he's not a player. The young guys needs direction and someone to teach them how to compete. Green might struggle as a rookie.

As long as it's a coach committed to an uptempo game, that will allow kids to make mistakes and give them the confidence to learn from those mistakes, I'll be happy.

I want to watch an exciting brand of hockey, win or lose, wrong or right. I'd much rather watch us lose 7-3, while trying to score, playing hard and fast, than have to sit through countless 3-1 / 2-0 yawn fests.

Hitchcock was pretty much planning on retiring after this season had he not been let go early. He's done damn good work in the past but it's time to put him out to pasture.
