Putgolzin
Lumme. Nobody's said Lumme. Everybody loves him cause of his scoring and sick dangles, I couldn't deal with him constantly coughing up the puck. I know I'm in the minority but I never liked him. Ballard was meant to help us overcome the hump. Garrison kinda arrived during our feudal attempts to recapture playoff success. I think this alone separates the two. Garrison was serviceable at least. Ballard was scratched most of the playoffs. then on comes rookie Chris tanev who helps us go deep.

This is where I was going...the string of so-called "PP specialists" that various GM's brought in "save" our struggling PP...ie/ Schneider, Larsen etc.

AV thought enough of him to use him on his off-side (right side instead of left) with Hamhuis as his top shutdown pairing one season. You're underating Garrison (I'm talking before he lost a step or two at the end of his career here).

He was a very good, all-around defenseman in all respects. Physical, offensive, defensive - that guy had it all. (Except robustness, I suppose) One name not mentioned yet that I think is right up at the top is Mathieu Schneider. Put up really good numbers for quite a while, and even the season prior to coming to the Canucks he was still almost at .75 ppg. Played 17 games and then he was gone.
