Salo had the best shot from the point I've ever seen. The most underrated part of it was his insane accuracy, both in wrist shots and slap shots. His ability to get shots through was amazing.

This.... +1

At least Ballard could hit guys with his hip, Garrison couldn't hit anything, including the net, if his life depended on it.

Ballard was  meant to help us overcome the hump.  Garrison kinda arrived during our feudal attempts to recapture playoff success.   I think this alone separates the two.  Garrison was serviceable at least.  Ballard was scratched most of the playoffs.   then on comes rookie Chris tanev who helps us go deep.

You are clueless, check our win/loss record with him in the line up, then watch a few games and see him never make a mistake

I have a difficult time remembering when he was actually in the lineup. Walking into the stadium with a breeze blowing against his face would put him on the DL.

The way Gary Bettman administers the fiefdoms certainly didn't help matters any.

4 pages and not one mention of Larsen? He was going to save our powerplay this season.

This is where I was going...the string of so-called "PP specialists" that various GM's brought in "save" our struggling PP...ie/ Schneider, Larsen etc.

AV thought enough of him to use him on his off-side (right side instead of left) with Hamhuis as his top shutdown pairing one season.  You're underating Garrison (I'm talking before he lost a step or two at the end of his career here).

Agreed.  He was a very good, all-around defenseman in all respects.  Physical, offensive, defensive - that guy had it all.  (Except robustness, I suppose)

One name not mentioned yet that I think is right up at the top is Mathieu Schneider.  Put up really good numbers for quite a while, and even the season prior to coming to the Canucks he was still almost at  .75 ppg.  Played 17 games and then he was gone.
