Tried to join a couple years ago they told me my chosen jobs were full so i ask for a list of jobs I could pick.

The recruitment officer sends me a list.

I respond with one of the jobs, and they tell me "you don't have the education for that job" about a month later as if my file wasn't right in front of them.

So i repeat the previous question and hear nothing for six months until I get this email from another recruitment officer asking if I was still interested in joining the canadian forces. Lol.

No thank you.

A few years later I end up working with a ex military logistics specialist who was the dumbest single person I have ever met. He was a class 1 certified driver aspiring to be a crane operator. Litterally drove into a telephone pole on his first day.

Id avoid the military unless youre planning to become an officer. Youll most likely end up saluting people who you have a good chance of being smarter than while competing with a bunch of retards trying to see who can waste the most canadian tax payers money.

Ok, I get that you have had a negative experience, but this bolded sentence shows that you know nothing about what you're talking about. I'm not an officer FWIW. Dumb people are found everywhere, including the military.

There's another thing I need to add. Getting a response one month after you applied is considered FAST. If you don't meet the requirements then you don't meet the requirements. That has nothing to do with the military and everything to do with you.

Seems like you're one of those whiny self-entitled brats. It's fine. We don't need people like you in.

while canada has taken part in most wars, we are more of a peace keeping  nation. it seems that canada is upgrading our equipment and ability of our equipment. i'm not sure if more equipment and force size is the best. just my opinion.

Peacekeeping doesn't mean neglecting your own forces. There really isn't a good excuse as to why Canada has neglected its own defence forces.

I wouldn't have asked if I knew where to start. :P

Politics isn't the only issue in the range of my interests. I need a decent source where I can start reading about our countries military capabilities and that of other countries. How do we compare? You say we are underfunded and that might the case. I would like to come to that conclusion independently though, not saying that I don't believe you or even disagree but I need information on this subject and I don't know where to begin. Preferably I need a source that gives the facts without any judgments based on those facts.

Join the forces and you can see first hand whether or not we're actually poorly equipped.

Anyone else have any WW2 Grandpas?

Yup and his 2 brothers. He came home they didn't.

Then you clearly lack the attention span or basic reading comprehension to see the ineptness and blatant failure of the recruiting officer to do their job and read my file before offering me jobs with which the requirements i didn't meet. The enrollment process starts with sending them a transcript of your highschool grades, so, them contacting me would assume the fact that they had that information. Where did I say they contacted me a month after applying? This was all almost a year after I applied. I am talking about after the dialogue was started.

There are dumb people everywhere sure, but in a free market company an idiot who is completely useless and wastes six months of a potential employees time out of plain stupidity gets fired, or they wouldn't have a job in the first place. If she had responded with a list of jobs that corresponded to my grades, I would have selected one of them and would be right there with ya bud. Unfortunately  they dragged it out about seven months and accomplished nothing but force me to put my future plans on hold during an extremely stressful time.

My entire life was in limbo during this process which as a tax paying member of society, disgusts me. And as a tax paying member of society, I am free to voice this opinion and anyone with two brain cells rolling around their skulls would agree unless they're simply blindly supporting their fellow tax money leeches. I mean, does stretching an enrollment process out six months longer than it had to be by feigning stupidity keep more of you employed?

The fact that they then ignored me when I for the second time asked which jobs I met the requirements for and then randomly contacted me asking if i was still interested six months later was the cherry on top, as if to confirm it wasn't a one (actually two) time dumbass moment.

And the fact that every single person I have done business with or worked with from the military has been dumber than a bag of hammers or too lazy to assume responsibility in their occupation or just as an intelligent person is not my problem, so please, get a grip.

If you accept the that my story is the truth and you are putting it on me saying it was my problem, then I'm guessing you most likely are just as stupid as the people I dealt with and if you're a member of the armed forces you're confirming my 'to this day' opinion of their members.

Whiney self entitled brat? Wow bud, coming from a guy with a pension and full benefits being paid well above the market value of his job who tells the person who pays his wage in taxes that he isn't allowed to have an opinion or that it's wrong, that's fresh.

You know, I would prefer the reality of the Canadian Forces members who I have met/interacted with in a business context weren't a caricature of Heartbreak Ridge..... Honestly, I'd feel a lot better having them as employees.

You know, if I talked to my boss like that I'd be fired on the spot. Oh well, I guess entitlement has a new meaning to the ME generation

Again, I get that you might have a bad experience but from the last post that you made, you don't know what you're talking about. Period. I'll elaborate on this later on why I say this.

Here's the problem with what you've written:

The trade that you picked might not be suitable for you at this time because you don't have the requirements. Either go back to school to upgrade yourself (the military has options for you to do this) or go pick another trade. If you're dead set on a trade, whining about it like you're doing isn't going to change anything. What trade did you try to go into? Totally curious. Most trades are quite accessible. You literally just need high school grad and they'll take care of the rest.

One year waiting period is about average for the Forces. Is the recruitment process perfect? Absolutely not. There's a lot of complaints about it being too slow. So if you think you have it bad, you REALLY don't know how long some people have waited to get in.

One of the biggest issues I have with your post(s) is that you've made a huge generalization that members are a leech to taxpayers. That is insulting and wrong. I can let it slide if there's some truth to it, but that really isn't the case, honestly. It's your bitterness that has impaired your ability to reason.  I'm literally rolling my eyes at you for saying I'm likely part of this said group that is 'dumber than a bag of hammers'. Whatever helps you justify your point. I'm not mad because I know where I stand when it comes to intelligence.

What makes your life that much more special compared to others? As I've mentioned, there are many others that have waited and waited... only to either get rejected or that they've "lost the application". As you can see, I'm no blind defender of it. I see the problems in the system and I sympathize the struggles. There's no need to emphasize on being a taxpayer. You don't sound cool by saying it. I'm a tax payer too.

Talking $&!# to your boss, especially with your attitude, is a good way to get fired, yes. Note, there is a difference between having an opinion and delivery of an opinion. Furthermore, if you think having a opinion makes you a big guy, then the military is not for you especially when you're starting out.

If you think you're so high in demand, why are you bitching about an organization that apparently doesn't value you very much? Go find work elsewhere.  I'm thinking that based on these exchanges, it's your attitude that is holding you back, not so much your qualifications.

It's not about having an opinion that is the issue. You have to know what you're talking about, and in my honest opinion, you do not.

Again,

The trade I chose...was...unavailable. I had sufficient grades for it.

They sent me a list of trades that were.

The ones that were, weren't within my schooling grades.

If they'd have simply sent me a list of trades that were, and not wasted six or seven more months of my life,

I wouldn't have this opinion.

Do you understand?

I understand.

One thing you don't realize is that just because you WANT a trade doesn't necessarily mean it'll be available. If there's no open slot, there's no open slot.

What trade did you try to apply for and what were the trades they sent you back?

Six or seven months of your life - big whoop. Again, the average waiting period is about a year in the forces. I'm assuming you tried to join regular force.

Look, I'm not trying to sound unsympathetic. Any amount of waiting is a long time. I remember trying to wait two weeks for an interview response and it was the longest wait ever.  You just have to understand that waiting is part of the process, love it or hate it.

He gets a much deserved neg.

Repeatedly declines to tell me what trade he wants to get into. Doesn't tell me what trade he gets offered.

Talks so much $&!# about the military yet doesn't know what he's talking about.

I guess what they say is true, if you have to use personal attacks and insults to support your point, you didn't have much of a point to begin with.

Yea unfortunately stupid people breed faster than intelligent ones. I'm &^@#ing outnumbered

Drew reminds me of the kind of person that asks out a girl, who rejects him so afterwards he talks all kinds of $&!# about her.

"She was a dumb slut anyway."

"The military are a bunch of tax payer money leeches."

How come these posts look different, even though Drew's original post does not show  it was edited? Was a moderator in here?
