You sure it wasn't Megna? Because if they're looking for a forward that coaches can depend on to play in any role including the top line... :P
I wonder what it would take to trade for Grabner...

It's funny when you look at that list and then have to listen to people saying things like "Vegas is going to be better than Vancouver next year, haha."

Outside of a few decent goalies and a potential good top pairing, they're going to lack quality depth. They're going to have a lot of guys who looked good in the role they played on their former contending team (guys like Josh Anderson, Grabner, van Riemsdyk), who are either going to do wonders with the extra minutes and responsibility they get, or get completely exposed.

There's always 1 or 2 guys that will breakout with a fresh start and more minutes (Sullivan in Nashville, even going back to Bradley and Chris Kontos in Tampa Bay), but for the most part supporting cast is everything for making 3rd and 4th liners look like potential to 6 forwards.

There's a reason a lot of these guys weren't protected.

It's even more funny that posters talk of Vegas trading players for four 1st round picks but they are somehow still going to have all these players on their roster. Really curious to see how that all works out.

Not his finest work. I've been playing around with the draft simulator myself, and it's tricky - https://capfriendly.com/expansion-draft

There's a lot of factors like cap hit (for both the upper and lower limits) as well as having the minimum number of contracts valid in 2018. Also, you have to draft 14/9/3, meaning you want a few players with AHL flexibility.

That said, the following D are better options than Sbisa:

Enstrom

Dumba

Methot

Vatanen

Van Riemsdyk (I believe the deal with Chicago means he's headed to Vegas)

Colin Miller

Bogosian (though big cap hit at 5.2)

I also liked Ouellet as cheap depth.

In this respect I'd venture to say we're safe with Sbisa. If the reports that Vegas has a deal to take Lehtonen, then that's another heavy cap hit to factor in, that would further prevent spending $ on D. I think then that Vegas takes a cheap forward from us, likely Gaunce, though I can see how Button went to Skille, as a cheap depth forward.

The be fair, that list is pretty pathetic. There are much better names out there then what's on Button's list. Only thing we (and Button) don't know is side deals other teams have in place with Vegas to not select certain unprotected players.

Forwards: Soderberg, Dano, Rychel, Weal, Perron, Frk, Strome, Neal, Hudon, Brown, Marchessault, Eakin, Pitlick, Stempniak, Deslauries, Brouwer, Khokchalev, Burmistrov. + Shipiychov signing from KHL.

Defense: Vatanen, Dumba, Merrill, Methot, Johnson, Pokka, Koekkoek, DeMelo, Pedan

Goalies: Fleury, Raanta, Grubauer

They don't have any higher end forwards outside of Neal/Shipy, but will have a lot of quality depth players and a very good bottom six.

Their D-core is pretty decent as well and goalies will be better then half of the other teams in the league.

I don't know if you ask me they have a pretty solid group of players to choose from

F1: Neal Shipachyov  Ryan
F2: Boedker Strome Grabner
F3: Brouwer Kruger Anderson
F4:Grigoernko Eakin Wiese
EF1: Nordstrom Dano Hayes
EF2: Yakupov Burmistrov Rychel

D1: Demers Vatanen
D2: Sbisa Dumba
D3: McNabb Bogosian

ED1: Koekkoek Reinhart
ED2: Nesterov

G1: Fleury
G2: Grubauer

EG1: Wedgewood

And all of the extra's can be moved for other assets,
