canuktravella
no way in hell we trade tryamkin in 2-3 yrs he comes back in his prime being a mean number one dman who crushes people hes got massive potential and benning own his rights for a while so calm your self
Provost
There isn't a trade that would make sense. No team is going to pay any reasonable value for a player who may never show up. The potential of having a top 4 D drop in our lap in a couple years is worth more than some late round pick we would be offered for his rights. There's far more likelihood that Tryamkin comes back and becomes an impact player than anything we could get for him doing so.

Some teams are better with certain international players than others (Canucks always seem to have leaned to Swedish players, for example) so what about floating the concept out there to see if a 2nd or 3rd pick could be garnered from a team willing to take that risk? Remember the Igor Larionov debacle? Left Vancouver and played one season for HC Lugano. Canucks put him on waivers and gave him away to the Sharks for nothing. He returned to the NHL the next season and ended up playing 12 more seasons all in the NHL.
TheGuardian_
The guy was a rookie that played better than most vets. Did anyone ever see him get out skated? He is a 6' 7" guy that moves like he is 5' 11", his shot, which the fans rarely got to see because he didn't get much PP time, is above league average. To say he has no value is ridiculous. The European scouts should get bonuses for finding him. WD and management handled him all wrong and still he performed above their requirements or desires. He is an honest kid, he stated that he felt confused, left side, right side, different partners, 18 minutes one game with no goals against, 10 minutes the next, he didn't know what they wanted and evidently they didn't put out the effort to explain the old school $&!#e or having to play second fiddle for a number of years before being rewarded. No off ice support. IMO he went back to Russia to straighten himself out and get his confidence back because he was getting no clear direction from the club, he has an ego, bigger than it probably should be but he could back it up with his play on the ice, he just couldn't understand the way he was played and then the low ball contract offer. Don't trade him, let him develop in Russia for a year or two and when he comes back he may very well be the number one guy, he wants to beat out Chara and it looks like he might just do that. cripplereh
I would not do that unless it was for a player we could use now and they wanted one more thing in the deal as his value in time will only go up as we do not know how long he will stay in the KHL and when he returns who does not want a BIG D so his value will go higher and higher

I know a lot of players who went from NHL to Europe and ended up either staying or if they wanted to re-challenge themselves, wanted a fresh start with a different team. Every player is different so hope you are rights as I think he can be a solid NHL Dman and Canucks need more of those.
