This is how a GM with future hall of famers, Toews, Kane & Keith on their team who have won 3 cups in 6 years, makes bold moves and stays competitive. We had the Sedins and Luongo all future hall of famers too and couldn't win anything, what's your point?

Scottish⑦Canuck
The first deal was bad enough. If there's nothing added to Saad this is horrendous. Chicago's window is closed.
Bang Bang Boogie
The Kane/Toews/Seabrook contracts are biting the Blackhawks in the ass.

As much as I love the twins and Luongo, I don't think they will make the HHOF. My point is the Blackhawks have won and proven they can win with their core. They have to be bold now considering those three guys are still in their prime. You honestly aren't comparing a bottom dwelling team like the Canucks to a perennial Stanley Cup Contender are you? The Hawks need playoff guys. The Jackets need exciting guys to sell seats. Works for both, I think.
pluralsight
Bowman trying to bring back what was working for his team. Pretty skeptical of this trade considering how the Ladd trade worked out. But luckily Saad is still quite young.

250Integra
Blackhawks got Fleeced. I guess it's not that bad considering they got Panarin for nothing.. but I'm sure they could've traded him to another team for a King's ransom...
Gollumpus
Chicago gets a younger (1 year), bigger player, who is faster (isn't he?), plays a fairly physical style and has good offensive ability (edge to Panarin), all for an extra two years ofn a $6 million cap hit. Hawks win. regards, G.
EternalCanuckFan
Saad's a good player but this is still quite a surprise. Panarin has back to back 70+ point seasons. Saad and Panarin also have the same cap hit though Saad's contract is good for a couple more years. I guess CHI isn't confident about re-signing Panarin after this year. DownUndaCanuck
Bad trades for both teams but Panarin adds something special to CBJs top 6 and Hjarlmasson gives them a solid cup winning top 4 vet. They're going to go deep this playoffs. Thats how you win - dont give up much quality and take advantage of other teams.
