RWMc1 Posted June 23, 2017 Share Posted June 23, 2017 I'm pretty sure that most of the Willie bashers have no clue about his systems. Most of the abuse was centered around his inability to stand still, due to his hip replacement, and his over-use of unpopular players and under-use of popular players. To me the biggest flaw in his system was the middle of our zone. Our forwards lost their man in coverage switches regularly. Opposing forwards got free and would skate in from the boards to right above the circle and in. Lots of shots from there and lots of cross-ice passes with a wide open net. Too many times Miller would be sliding the wrong way like a curling rock from return cross-ice passes. That's how much time and space we gave away in that area all season long. Good luck Willie.
