Any game updates? Thanks in advance :)

Vaxjo have been on the PK for a huge chunk of the 2nd so maybe that;s why EP40 hasn't seen much ice time thus far. SC Bern carried most of the play in the second because of the PP's. Hopefully they kill off the rest of the 5 minute major they got in the last 2 mins of the 2nd. Tough to get used to watching hockey with so much room for the forwards down the sides of the ice.

His U20 season is being compared to legends' U20 seasons - apples to apples. It's the fact that he's only 19 and putting up the points that he did that's the impressive part.

You are missing my point.  I don't deny that his season is impressive - even more impressive than players like Forsberg that had amazing NHL careers.

My point is that he currently had several SHL players close to him in points and I wonder how that is even possible when he is having such an outstanding season.  It looks like at this pace there are going to be several players breaking records this season - and many of them aren't even historically good players.

Uh oh, this isn’t sounding good. :(

EDIT: Not sure if Zanier (if indeed this account is from the former player and current analyst) is a solid source or if this is just a hot take.

Official word is just lower body, day-to-day, and sounds more precautionary (for now anyway):

The players near him are almost all over 30 years old the op was referring to the under-20 age seasons for players like Forsberg.

Yep, most of them were playing in the lesser Swedish leagues when they were just 19yrs old.

I realize this.  You are both missing my point, and I'm certainly not trying to detract from what Pettersson has accomplished so far, nor do I believe it has anything to do with his potential.  What I'm saying is that if he is performing at a virtually record pace for the SHL of ANY aged player, how is it that there are so many players who have almost as many points?  There ought to be a half dozen players in that league breaking records right now.

I will try to take a stab at this. I think the most important part of the chart is the last column showing points per game. The 1st chart shows the players scoring at at least 1 point per game in the SHL this season.. I think you would agree that only Pettersson and Lindstrom (and perhaps Lasch) are the only 2 remotely close to the PPG pace of the players in the second chart.

The other significant factor is the number of games played. The better players don't get to play the 53 and 55 games that some of the players on the 2nd chart played as they would be off playing in World Juniors, Olympics, Canada Cups, etc. That is why you don't see the likes of Kent Nilsson, Peter Forsberg and Markus Naslund on the list as none of these players ever had a season of more than 39 games in the SEL/SHL. My guess is that Pettersson will miss being on the 2nd list as well for that very reason.

That is my take on it in any event.

Elias is on pace for 67 points in a 52 game regular season. That would tie him for fourth most points in a single SHL season by anyone ever.
