what do you guys think of K'Andre Millers upside?  A 6ft5 dman converted from forward with a high upside?  Not looking at him with our pick just asking to see if anyone has any insight on him outside the odd article here and there.  He looks pretty good so far at the U-18s.

He needs work on his defensive reads like any young player, but he would be the type of gamble that could make a gm look like a genius with a late first early second round pick.

Yeah. I agree with you, but I think they are giving more consideration to Hughes and boqvist because they played tougher competition at the ncaa and international lvls. This u18 is gonna be big for smith though.

Most of you are familiar with hockeyprospect's latest list but I did not notice it posted yet. Looking at their draft prospect rankings in the past, they have been one of the most accurate in predicting how the draft goes. In the top half of the first round anyway.

https://www.hockeyprospect.com/hockeyprospect-com-2018-nhl-draft-rankings-top-70-march-6th-2018/

As the playoffs near, HockeyProspect.com has released our updated ranking of the top prospects for the 2018 NHL Draft, which takes place in Dallas this year. Our previous list was released just prior to the CHL Top Prospects game in Guelph, which also included on ice testing. We’ve seen a lot of hockey since that release and our new rankings have some changes.

There is no change at the top of our ranking, Rasmus Dahlin continues to lead the way over  Andrei Svechnikov and Filip ZadinaAdam Boqvist and Oliver Wahlstrom each gained a spot   since our ranking in January and Jesperi Kotkaniemi also moved up our list. The biggest move this month is by Nils Lundkvist from Sweden. The mobile defender has been playing very well at home in the SHL and also had a strong week at the recent Five Nations Tournament in Michigan.

HockeyProspect.com’s Mark Edwards commented on the new ranking. “It’s been an enjoyable 5 weeks or so since our previous rankings, we’ve seen a ton of high end prospects and some of them had some very strong games for us. We have a few changes to both our top 31 and throughout the 32-70 range as well. Our next list comes with the release of our NHL Draft Black Book and there is a lot of hockey between now and then. I’m looking forward to getting a last look or two at a few players as we enter the playoffs around various leagues.”

Interesting how high Jesperi Kotkanemi is. I haven't seen him play much. I must be missing something

Fwiw, Smith would be a killer pick for the canucks and for gudbranson because of his hockey iq and puck moving ability. That pairing would be elite along the lines of lindholm and Manson.

After watching some highlights and reading scouting report he was compared to Ryan Oreilly in style of player. Good 200 foot player who is strong in almost every area. Would Lias Anderson also be a good style comparison for him? He looks like he could be a really good NHL player. He has a big frame and will add more muscle. Knows how you use his size and works well in tough areas around the net. He is currently playing against men in Liga league in Finland. I could see his game take a big step next season. He would look good on a line with Pettersson and Dahlen

Dahlen Kotkanemi Pettersson

Goldobin Horvat Boeser

His game is very similar to pool party. Maybe not as dynamic. Can see the O'Reilly and andersson comparisons.

I feel like it's hard to contribute anything to this thread. No matter how much I think I know, or who we should take and when, it's really throwing a dart at a dart board for me. I need to trust father Jim's expert analysis over my watching youtube videos and reading articles.

There would be no message boards if that was the thought process haha.

Anyone have an idea of the comparison between Kotkanemi & Lundestrom? Haven't done alot of digging on them yet but from what I've heard they seem like similar guys with offensive skill & mature 200 ft games.

The main difference is their physical tools. Kotkaniemi is built like a Horvat/Kopitar type and needs to work on his skating, while Lundestrom is built like Hischier and has great speed. They're pretty close for me but I'd give the slight edge to Kotkaniemi. Lundestrom has been playing in the SHL full time since last year though, which is very impressive and shows a very refined game.

Jack Hughes is insane.

Berggren is having a very good tournament. He's playing himself into the high 2nd/late 1st right now.

Wahlstrom, Boqvist and Noel are playing well too.

How high will this Hughs kid get picked?
