Tre Mac
Though I didn't watch much of the tourney I heard that MD played well. Grats on a good Tourney Mikey! DiPeitro has seen the highs of winning the Memorial Cup and now the lows of losing for Team Canada - hopefully both help him in his journey back to Rogers Arena. Mikey's the sole reason the losses were as close as they were. The entire country has reason to be proud of him as well.

Specz
Nothing to be ashamed of Mikey. You reminded me of Jonathan Quick, very impressed. Keep it up man we have high hopes. Gold medal doesn't compare to a Stanley Cup Ring anyways. Edited January 4, 2019 by Specz

Demko has proven himself at every level except the NHL and he's just about to get his chance there. I love them both but no way to know who's better yet.
AK_19
His personality is certainly magnetic. We haven't had a particularly interesting interviewee since Bieksa.
canucklehead44
Would love to see a Dipetro - Demko tandem one day. Re-sign Marky 2 years to share the net with Demko. At the end of the deal Demko will be 26 and Dipietro 23 with 3 years of AHL experience.

Popular Post -Vintage Canuck-
Michael Dipietro on Sportsnet 650: "Biggest takeaway is it's a dream come true. I watched the tournament as a kid and having opportunity to represent the country on home soil -- unfortunately not the result we wanted, but it was a great experience being a Canucks prospect and playing in front of these fans." On hearing the chants: "Definitely pretty cool -- I was focused on the game and couldn't soak it all in. Having the chance to reflect after and take in everything happened and something I'll remember. It's special for me and my family." "Technique is something I have to grow within my game, the less movement it makes it easier everything. It's something I'll continue to refine but it's something I like to model my game after Jonathan Quick. We're similar in stature and I like the way he battles." On feeling pressure as Canada's #1: "As a group, we decided to eliminate as much of outside noise as we could. We had a phenomenal group and you're going to feel the pressures of playing in Canada, but we expected success." "I look back at QF Game. There's a bad bounce to tie it up, a couple of bad bounces to win it. It sucked that we lost. We all felt the pain, we were a close group and we supported each other. Nobody pointed a finger. We came together as friends but it made us a family." "Pettersson's pretty good -- he can definitely shoot the puck. Good thing he's with Vancouver cause I wouldn't want to go against that." “I'm super excited for Thatcher Demko. He texted me after the Finland game and expressed that he's been there and has felt that. He said congratulations on a great tournament. Super exciting for him and he's a good friend of mine and see this happen is awesome.” 3
The Beagle had landed
Utica will be getting a great character guy and leader very soon.
JeremyCuddles
DiPietro did everything but score for Canada. He played great, stood on his head. Guy is class personified as well. Gonna be a great pro one day. He models himself after a pretty great goalie as well. Good head on his shoulders.
Ray_Cathode
The Canucks scouting group has really done a great job of selecting guys with character. Pettersson, Boeser, Demko, DiPietro, Madden, Gaudette, Stetcher, Virtanen, and it looks like the guys developing in Utica share those characteristics.

I'm wondering if this current call up for Demko is because DiPietro is trending to becoming very good? Are we giving Demko a couple months before the coming TDL to see what we have with him at the NHL level? Is this in preparation for the Seattle expansion draft, and Demko (or DiPietro) could be traded?

dpn1
I know that Mikey can be called up, from Jr., in an emergency if both goalies go down in Vancouver but does the same go for Utica?
