Wow if you can have a win with a 7th round pick that sounds like an amazing draft choice.

Potential #1 center (Pettersson), sniper (Lind), power forward (Gadjovich), starting goalie (Dipietro... no 15 year contracts please J.B.) Stecher-like PMD (Rathbone), decent(?) shutdown guy (Gunnarsson), smallish but skilled play-making and scoring winger who's played with Gadjovich (Palmu) and a physical, productive right-side D in Brassard?  J.B. is having himself some kind of draft day.

If two of this year's Canuck picks get more than 100 NHL games and one other gets to 50 or so then it will have been a moderately successful draft.   To get three over 200 games would be phenomenal.   Unfortunately, odds are against having more than 2 or 3 ever play in NHL but you never know.   Best draft years ever can lead to 3 to 4 making it.   Some years, zero.   Let's hope for Canuck faithful this is one of those "best ever" years.

Good size, physical, skates well, and has a bomb of a shot. Pretty toolsy kid with potential for having a big year in Oshawa.

Doesn't seem to get the same hype among our recent crop of prospects as Palmu (I suppose not surprising given their positions and playing styles) but Brassard really looks like another steal of a late round pick.

pGPS models peg him at a 16% chance of developing into an NHL regular.

DEV model says he's a 2nd round pick value.

Brock Otten (OHL Prospects blog) listed him as a top-10 draft re-entry for 2017 and a very good bet for any team looking to get top value in the middle-to-late rounds. Steve Kournianos (Draft Analyst) also rated him pretty high IIRC.

Possibly a player we should be a little more excited about having in the system?

Hopefully he starts building more hype with a strong 2017-18 season. But definitely a player to watch this year.

He had a very uneven start to his draft year and played like someone potentially to be passed over but after being traded played more like a 2nd/3rd round pick with solid NHL potential.   Question is, why the inconsistency?   Was it a growth thing?   Issues at school/home?   Injury?   Guess that is what teams looked at and Canucks were the team that satisfied themselves in taking a chance - this season will tell if he was a couple of month intrigue or if they may actually have a prospect.

What will he have to do to get an invite to the WJC camp?

.75 points per game with some big hits?

That just most likely will not happen unless he absolutely dominates first part of the season.
