No points for Brassard but he fires 4 SOG. Remains top-5 among OHL Ds in shots. And has the dubious honour of having far and away the highest SOG total (63) for zero goals players in the OHL this season. Hopefully the dam breaks soon because this kid deserves a goal.

Still stranded at 6 points (6A) in 19 games played.

Worth noting that Brassard now has 9 points (3G 6A) in his last 10 games (and 7 points in his last 6 games).

Hopefully he's finally heating up and he finishes this season strong.

He’d been doing a lot of the right things from the start, including putting up a tonne of shots (97 SOG), but hadn’t been getting the results until recently.

Good stuff again (and again, and again, and again) Sid; what would we do without you?

Thank you very much for keeping up on all our prospects.

Pucks finally going in for Matt with some regularity.

5 goals (and 10 points) in his last 9 games, after going 24 games without a goal (and only 8 assists during that stretch).

He has the 4th most shots on goal (103 SOG) this season among OHL defensemen, and could easily have double his current goal count (and a few more assists) if the hockey gods had been a little kinder to him over his first two dozen games.

Would be great to see him keep rolling through the second half and maybe break 15 goals and 40 points this season. If he keeps shooting the puck like he has been, it might just happen.

Brassard is working on a two point game tonight (2A) with a period still left to play.

EDIT: actually, one of his 2nd assists got converted to a “3rd assist” on the scoresheet.

That would bring him to 13 points (unless he adds more) in his last 12 games.

EDIT: make that 12 points in 12 GP

Should he maintain this level of production, he could actually flirt with a 50 point season.

I still say a 40 point season would be a great result, given the rough start he had. But his game definitely seems to be tracking well now and he’s starting to really enjoy some results on the scoresheet. Great to see. :)

Really turning it up now. See why he was getting some high praise.

Definitely. He’s been scoring around a point per game for a good while now (16 points in last 17 GP). Seems like of late, whenever he goes scoreless for game or two and looks like his hot streak is gonna end, he follows it up with another multipoint game and gets back on a run.

And still firing pucks at high volume. 119 shots on goal for the season. Good for 4th among all OHL Ds.

Probably deserves a few more goals than the 6 he has so far. Hopefully that evens itself out over the remainder of the season.

Really an excellent 7th round pick. Was considered one of the top draft re-entries in 2017. Was used pretty sparingly during his first season and a half and then had a bit of an offensive explosion when he started playing more minutes, especially after he was traded.

This season, he had a pretty frustrating start. Was playing well but not getting any results. But seems to have just kept at it and he eventually started getting some bounces and hasn’t really looked back since.

40-50 points on the season seems within his reach now, which would be a nice result.

He’s not a pure offensive defenseman by any means so he’s not expected to put up massive totals. More of a two-way D with good size (6’2”, 200ish), pretty decent mobility, and a heavy shot. Plays a fairly rugged game and uses his size well. Has made some highlight worthy open ice hits and crunches guys against the boards. Plays physical in his own zone and can make life difficult on his checks.

Basically a good all situations defender who can log big minutes and play solid thorough three zones.

He’s starting to creep up into the top-20 scoring ranks for OHL Ds this season (17th currently), and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him make it to the 10-15 range, or maybe even break into the top-10 if he keeps up his current scoring rate. He’s not a dynamic, offensive minded D with high level vision/creativity, but he does have some good offensive upside, a nice set of overall tools, heavy shot, moves the puck well, and can capably QB a powerplay.

I see him returning for to the OHL for an OA year next season and then hopefully do enough between now and then to get signed in 2019 and move on to the AHL for some seasoning. Right now, he looks like a good bet for eventually providing some solid depth with the upside of possibly playing a 4-6 D role in the future Canucks lineup.

Anything along those lines would be a big time “hit” for a 188th overall pick.
