stonecoldstevebernier
MacMaster-Chaput-MacEwen Goldobin-Darcy-Dahlen Motte-Hamilton-Bancks Carcone-Cassels-Cherniwchan Wiercioch-Chatfield Sautner-Blujus Brisebois-Sifers Good early kill by the Comets after Wiercioch flipped the puck over the glass, no shots for Toronto on the PP. Dahlen shortly after makes a nice pass to spring Cherniwchan down the wing but he's stopped by Sparks, first good chance of the game.
stonecoldstevebernier
1-0 Marlies. Blujus' pass attempt hits a skate and bounces to Gauthier, who passes over to Engvall for the goal.
stonecoldstevebernier
Comets score!!! Darcy on the doorstep gets a pass from Carcone behind the net after Carcone darted around the outside from the blueline in. 4-on-4 goal, 1-1.
stonecoldstevebernier
Marlies getting a 5 on 3 for 45 seconds with three and a half minutes to go in the first... ...and Timashov capitalizes to make it 2-1. Demko makes a great save on Mueller at one side of his crease but the puck gets back over to the other side for Timashov to put home.
Noble 6
Like the look of that second line. I think Jasek should be in the lineup though.

stonecoldstevebernier
End of the first period, the Comets trail 2-1 to the Marlies. Shots are 11-9 for Toronto after the opening frame. Bad luck for the Comets on the second goal (on the 5-on-3) as the first penalty was a too many men call, a result of a Marlies player shooting the puck at the Comets bench during a line change. Utica acquitted themselves very well otherwise in a pretty even period, both teams getting some good chances in. Goldobin-Darcy-Dahlen was the best trio for the Comets, with Dahlen getting denied at the back door on a pretty passing play from all three. Carcone made a great individual play on the Comets goal, wheeling around the back of the net, but for once had the presence of mind to get it out front to Darcy for the goal. Chatfield had a very strong period, really impressed with how calm he looks out there in a playoff atmosphere. Lot of smart passes, not rushing the puck off his stick under pressure, moving well in his own zone. The Comets will have an abbreviated powerplay of 1:02 to start the second period. PP1: Motte-Chaput-MacEwen Goldobin-Blujus

PP1: Motte-Chaput-MacEwen Goldobin-Blujus Pretty decent top unit! Boucher would/will be on there if/when he's healthy, correct? I'm keeping up via the Comets Twitter - tough way to hear about a game. Your updates are much better

And yeah, if the Comets make it far enough for Boucher to return he'd be a must on the first PP unit, probably taking Motte's place. Second period underway now! Demko starting things off making a great stop on Gauthier out of the penalty box on a 3 on 2.
Attila Umbrus
Okay, is it just me or is this penaltry parade getting ridiculous. The too many men call while the player was half on the ice/bench, that's so damn close.
stonecoldstevebernier
Demko just absolutely robbed Grundstrom on a cross-crease feed from Engvall on the powerplay. Stretched out with the pads to stop the close range one-timer. Aaaaand now the Comets are going to be shorthanded again. This has gotta stop. Sixth powerplay already for Toronto, less than halfway through.

The rest have been more or less undisciplined though... thankfully the Comets PK has been really good so far, apart from the 5 on 3 goal which can't really be faulted on the PKers. stonecoldstevebernier
Carcone is having an excellent period. Had a shot at a wide open net that was blocked by Marincin. Just had another shift where he did a good job protecting the puck at the blueline, leaning on the defender, then dishing it to Brisebois for a shot on goal. Recovered the puck as the Marlies tried to clear, dangled through two Marlies players and set up Cherniwchan alone on the doorstep who was stoned by Sparks. 5:30 or so to go in the third. stonecoldstevebernier
Seventh powerplay of the game upcoming for Toronto... Hamilton upends Gauthier in front of the net in the Toronto zone. Bad offensive zone penalty, late in the third. The parade continues...
stonecoldstevebernier
Dahlen with a glorious chance off of Goldobin's rebound but his backhand goes through Sparks and out the other side of the crease. A right handed player probably would've buried that.

Putgolzin
I've liked Dahlen. Looks like the best player out there and making things happen every shift (even though he isn't getting many shifts because of the penalties). I'd like to see him force things a bit more though rather than deferring to Goldy every play...maybe he just needs three games to realize he's the best player out there.
