How many saves in this one?

His stats won't be flattering this game, but they don't tell the whole story.

Sounds like it could have been a blowout in this one if not for him. Especially considering they were shorthanded 7 times this game.

End of the game, Comets lose 5-2 and now trail 2-0 in the series going back to Utica. 29-23 shots for the Marlies, even at nine apiece in the third. Utica should've been in this one but two costly blunders after they tied it up at 2-2 put this one out of reach. Blown coverage on the third goal and poor decision making by Sautner-Blujus on the fourth goal. Gotta wonder how this one might've unfolded if not for the Comets being buried by penalties in the first two periods, too. Utica had their fair share of chances; Goldobin-Darcy-Dahlen had a number of them. Dahlen looked good throughout the contest and had two great chances to score. He can definitely hang at this level. Carcone was impressive as well, setting up the first Comets goal and creating scoring chances for Brisebois and Cherniwchan on the same shift later on. MacMaster is someone who looks like he could be worthy of an ELC, he's a great skater and has a good playmaking head on his shoulders - he's been rather consistent since signing his ATO and doesn't look out of place at all. Didn't really notice Motte 5-on-5 all game, or his linemates Bancks and Hamilton for that matter, although all three contributed to the good Comets PK. Cassels another guy who was good on the PK but wasn't notable 5-on-5.

Sautner-Blujus, probably the Comets most dependable pairing all year, had a particularly rough game. Blujus was on for all five of Toronto's goals and contributed directly to two of them while Sautner was on for three. From a defensive stand point, Chatfield had a strong game as previously mentioned. Wiercioch had a couple of chances from the point but is painfully slow in transition. Demko was stellar and made several highlight reel saves, facing a lot of cross-crease plays that tested his lateral movement.

Game 3 is Wednesday in Utica at 4:00 pst.

Hoping boucher comes in a takes over the series but you never know how a guy will be coming off an injury. I imagine cull will put him and goldy back together

If nothing else, another scoring threat might help open up space for other scorers (Goldobin, Dahlen...)

Demko looks like he needs either better teammates or more work in the AHL after those highlights. I 'm not smart enough to determine which lol.  He was kind of left out to dry a few times tho.

Definitely needs better defenseman in front of him. Two of the goals a guy was left wide open in the slot. Even NHL goalies are gonna have a tough time with that (see Price vs Boeser)

The other goal was a 2 on 1 executed perfectly. Basically if the shooter gets it up (which he did) there's little chance of a save. And then the last one was just a lucky bounce that came out to an open guy beside the net. Not much chance there.

Yeah those goals at the end were baaaad coverage. I remember motte specifically letting a guy walk to the slot from the corner in challenged.

Probably need Golden boy Pettersson in this series.

That would be amazing! He comes over and the coach throws him to the wolves right away! Pettersson and a familiar line mate in Dahlen playing 1rst line and carry this Utica team through the AHL playoffs!

So the stage has been set.  No reinforcements for the Marlies as Reid Boucher comes in to help out the Utica Comets!

The Brett Hull of the AHL!

Will see how his injured hand is.  I can't imagine he's 100% quite yet.  Comets are down 0-2 in a bo5.  This looks like a desperation move to try and take attention off some of the other guys.

Losing Holm was a huge loss for the Comets.  Hopefully we can find another import and shore up our D in the A.

Definitely a big loss for them. There's really nobody on the roster who comes close to having his skill set... Wiercioch has the offensive ability but man is he slow. Losing McEneny early in the season was a major blow too.
