Did Farhan just say Juolevi showed up at over 200 pounds?  Wow.

PP1:

Baertschi - Horvat - Gagner

MDZ - Stecher

PP2:

Sedin - Sedin - Granlund

Edler - Hutton

I'm hoping Boeser is on that second unit at some point.

+13 pounds on his listed weight on Elite Prospects.

Is that a GOOD +13 or a BAD +13 though..?

With Del Zotto and Wiercioch I'm wondering if any of our current defenders feel threatened at all. We have five quality NHL defensemen already and Del Zotto puts us at six. Wiercioch played a lot in the NHL last year, so you could argue that he's up there already. Should make for some good competition.

the team needs 8 quality dmen to survive the season

unless magically

there are no injuries

but that is clearly an illusion given the recent injury plagued seasons of this team

so apparently good teams have no need for enforcers anymore.

Pens: Reeves

Caps: Peluso

Even with all of the signings today, I would still love to see Grigorenko, Yakupv and Franson here on short term deals.  Not likely to happen, but these low risk, possible high reward depth signings are going to be huge for us.  I also expect that we will take a cap dump in exchange to a high pick.

Let's just pray he doesn't show up to camp looking like this guy...

My thoughts exactly.

Yeah Farhan just said it on TSN.  Juolevi looks like he has a big frame so maybe he's still a string bean.

I'm curious though!

It's not a Virtanen 13 pounder of last year, Juolevi doesn't seem to be the type to go in the wrong direction in building his career.

He'd never get the puck from Edler or the Sedins, Harvey.

For all of those who are saying that they don't understand why the Canucks are signing players today. Those who suggest that the rebuild is over. The eastern media who say that there is no direction and so on.

The players signed today are purely depth players and are not going to make us much better. We will still be in the bottom of the league. This will give the team the ability to leave some of the youth where they belong. It never pays to rush players into the nhl. They need to ice a team of nhl players. That's all.

DON'T you dare reason sensibly! Whining, griping & slagging alleviates stress.

Love all the moves today. Last year, we were really light on depth, had too much salary tied up in goal. This is a pretty balanced lineup that will allow us to keep some developing kid in Utica and available when injuries strike, as thet always do.

Every year, everyone freaks out about where the space for youth will come from, and the obvious answer is that they must force their way onto the team, not be gifted a spot. You have to create enough competition that they have to work through, or your breeding laziness into your team.

Spots will sort themselves out in training camp based on how everyone shows up, and based on who gets injured.

Take this FA crop today plus Rodin yesterday and throw in Boeser, Goldobin, Dahlen, Virtanen, Boucher, Juolevi, McEneny, Subban, Pedan and Holm... should make for an exciting training camp.
