Xbox
Pacific Division playoff team lost one of their top guys. San Jose will be at the bottom looking up. That really sucks for San Jose. Toronto is an odd fit unless other moves happen.

I really respected what Shanny and Lou had accomplished over the last few seasons but this makes very little sense to me. Guess time will tell. Heres hoping he's a dud. danaimo
Canada celebrates being 150 years old. Toronto's free agent haul matches it.

Rob_Zepp
Moore and Marleau - and some are criticizing the Canucks for taking players who will all have their contracts done (if they play them out) before 30. Well, if nothing else the Leaf's Father Son trip will have some of the Dads and some of the players being the same age.

TSnNjust ripped the Nucks for signing vets to shelter/play with the kids. Leafs do it and it is genius because Lou understands the value of veteran signings. Beary Sweet
Leafs are a joke. Sign a friggin 37 year old on the tail end of his career for a hefty AAV. Leafs be a Laff-ing stock...
48MPHSlapShot
And I'm sure TSN will cream over this

The leafs aren't going to win the cup in the next three years. With JT they could. It would give them the best center combo in the league. Now they may win a series and then they will have three guys to pay 12 mil a year to. Peaking early in TO.
ReggieBush
Don't get me wrong, I love Patrick Marleau, but they overpaid for him. Stupid deal

48MPHSlapShot
We sign a 27 year old who just had a career year to a 3 year contract with no trade restrictions and with an annual cap hit of 3.15 mill per season, and we're "losers". Leafs sign a 37 year old to a three year contract, probably with trade restrictions, with an annual cap hit of 6.25 per year, and this is a definite "win". Makes sense to me. Not going anywhere until they get at least two more of NHL-calibre. Exactly. Regardless of whether they can shed cap or not, it's cap space that certainly could have been used elsewhere to greater effect.
