All Threads Must Contain Tags!   07/25/2017

ALL THREADS MUST CONTAIN TAGS   All threads in this forum must contain tags prefixed to topic titles. The purpose of the tags is to eliminate confusion in recent threads lists, and to create an organized and consistent environment. Moderators may immediately lock and thread that does not contain tags.    Tags must be placed at the start of your thread title, following this exact formatting:    [Tag] Thread Title   Here are some of the most used popular tags:    [Proposal]
A trade, or trades, for next season, or even the off-season.
      [Off-Season]
FA signings, off-season trades for RFA's, UFA's rights etc...
      [Value Of]
(A question regarding a players worth, whether from another team, or the Canucks)
[Speculation] Posting a rumor (with a source of course), but providing why it could be possible for the Canucks to land that player.   [Discussion]
Thoughts on team trading strategy and composition.   Please feel free to create your own tag if none of these suit your thread.

[Proposal] Chris Tanev to Toronto

He's 26; far from old.

Besides, Tanev is no rookie either. Granlund is ok but we have far too many support players.

Kadri slots into 2c with Sedin in at 3c and Sutter in the 4 spot.

I like Kadri too, but we are rebuilding.  He will be gone, when the next core group takes over.  Yes, Tanev is older too.  We should move him for a proven U23 top six forward, or a high first round pick in 2018.

I saw Kerby Rychel's name in another thread. Looking at his scouting report, he would seem to be a piece we could, really, use. Would, definitely like to see a play for him, if, TO is the trading partner.

Tanev for Rychel

Tanev for Rychel

:picard: - Tanev is worth significantly more than just Rychel.

Tanev is basically a lesser version of Vlasic or Hjalmarsson, but younger and with a much superior contract. Rychel could be part of a package for him, but he would just be a smaller piece.

I'd think we'd need to take a cap dump (Lupul?) as well (and/or retain salary on Tanev) to make anything work and get back the value we'd need to make the deal.

Something like +/-:

To TOR: Tanev

To VAN: Lupul (and/or cap retention), Carrick, Liljegrin, 18 1st

We take a short term (but IMO quite manageable) downgrade on D but are far better positioned moving forward.

Edler, Stecher

MDZ, Gudbranson

Hutton, Carrick

Wiercioch, Mceneny, Biega, Holm, Pedan etc

With Liljegrin and a likely mid-late 18 1st in our pocket.

I would love to see Liljegrin on our team, but I think TO know they have a gem and will not be giving him up for Tanev.  If Nucks did somehow acquire Liljegrin, I would be the happiest fan of them all!

Lupul has a m-NTC with 15 teams listed as trade possibilities.  Somehow I don't think Van is on the list.

He can stay in whatever city he wants while on IR. Doubt he particularly cares as long as he's getting paid. Van's a pretty nice city to be on IR with though anyway.

Hard to say with Liljegrin. Can they afford to wait the 2-4 years it will likely take for him to make a meaningful contribution...? All while wasting productive years of of Mathews, Nylander, Reilly et al with a sub par D? I think they make that trade all things considered, especially if we help get them out of some of their cap hell as well.

Toronto doesn't need cap space. Horton and lupul go on injured reserve. They are in the hole 4 million at the moment but those 2 contracts coming off are a combined 10 and a half, giving them 6 and a half to play with.

They need to be cap compliant at the beginning of the season with those two on the roster. They can only be put on LTIR after the start of the season and submitting a compliant roster.

And at that point they get cap relief, not space. The two are not the same.

Of course it's not likely. This is armchair gming, which refers to it being pretend.

If Tanev were to be put on the block, I would be all in for a top 2 centre. With the young stars they have, coming up for new contracts, it may be necessary to move a forward. I'd like to revisit a Kadi deal.

Tanev, Granlund

for

Kadri, 3rd rnd pick 2018

Screw Kadri.
