Neill wrote a touching Facebook post early Friday morning to announce his friend’s death.

“By his side were his wife Elena, his daughter Julia and his sister Sharlene. Our thanks to the caring and compassionate staff at the St. B for all the dignity and comfort that they provided for Kenny and his family throughout this difficult time.”

One of the greatest frontman that R&R ever produced? Very nice words, but I never thought of Kenny Shields as a great frontman. But he did have one of the greatest voices and I loved Streetheart's songs. Last saw them around 7 years ago on Halloween at the casino. Really good time. Really sad that he's gone, RIP Kenny.

Man, me and my friends used to love Streetheart growing up in the Peg. We'd play songs like One More Time for girls at parties & hope they understood? Some of them did...

But one of the dumbest video's?

And I used to go hang out in the Osborne Village Friday afternoons. Wait for the Zoo, the hotel club at the corner, to open up. It lit up with cigarette's that were not tobacco when the lights went out for the band to come out.  They would play this first to get the crowd riled up.

RIP Kenny. I enjoyed your music & it was fun for me growing up!

I too opened for Streetheart once in a club scene. Met him on two other occasions as our paths crossed while on the road.

A true gentleman and a terrific vocalist. He'll be missed. His work on "Action" still gives me goosebumps.

Many people don't know that "Here Comes the Night" is also a cover. The original was written by a guy named Bert  Berns, who wrote songs for pretty much everybody back in the 60's and 70's.

The first recording of Here Comes the Night was by a band from Northern Ireland called "Them". The singer for the band was Van Morrison.

David Bowie has also covered the song, but IMHO, no-one has done it better than Streetheart.

And here is the tune Rupertkbd mentioned. I've got a little over an hour till the lions game, I'm going to listen to this, and others on vinyl.

Saw these guys in PG many years ago and was waiting for this song. It finally came up near the end of the show and I figured Kenny would skip some of the higher notes.

He nailed them all, even after 2 hours of running all over the stage. The man was a pro...
