Alright my turn... A card carrying, swastika wielding Nazi decides to hold a rally in an American city where his fellow Nazis can chant and act like assholes.

 

The descendants of victims of Nazism show up at the rally, one of them caves his skull in with a club. Maybe he should have chosen a better way to voice his opinion, or better yet not voiced it all? If he had not held his rally in a country full of people who are descendants who fought against Nazis, he would not have been clubbed to death. Did he instigate it?

 

You can replace Nazis with Al-Qaeda/ISIS.

No, he did not, for the US allows Freedom Of Speech and as wrong as those Neo Nazis are, they have a right to have a rally (I know, I don't like it any more than you do...)

Then by the same analogy, if I go to a Bruins game and start cursing at Bruins fans, I am protected by free speech. I did not instigate the violence, the people beating me up did. Do you see the point here? 

 

Freedom of speech protects you from prosecution by the government, it does not protect you from your fellow citizens.

However, If you rented out an arena, for the purpose of rallying people that Bruins suck - and some Bruins fans showed up - and started beating people up - then yes, they instigated it.

Then by the same analogy the "event" was held in America. A country full of descendants of people who fought against Nazis or whose ancestors were victims of Nazis. Maybe you shouldn't hold a Nazi event in a country that fought against Nazis in WWII. Like you said, there is a "time and place", holding a rally in a country which hates Nazis is not the place.

You seem to have lost the thread of the conversation. You asked what would happen if someone talked smack at a Bruins game in Boston. I replied that one might expect to get beat up, but certainly wouldn't expect to be murdered. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED IN CHARLOTTESVILLE!

 

Someone "told off" (according to you) a bunch of racists and was murdered because she did so. It is not the same thing as getting punched out for being an asshat at a hockey game.
